Redetermination Extension Memo from MDH

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) has announced that the the deadline for renewal of Medicaid cases in Maryland, including LTC Medicaid cases, has been extended.

Redetermination and renewal deadlines set for March 31, 2020, April 30, 2020, May 31, 2020 and June 30, 2020 have been extended to July 31, 2020. Cases that are due to close on those dates have been extended to July 31st.

In addition, there are only four reasons why an LTC case will close during the national emergency: death, voluntary closure, a move out of state, and a move out of an LTC facility but into Community MA.

Facilities are still encouraged to complete renewals as close to the scheduled redetermination date as possible because the sooner the renewal is completed, the sooner the case can be updated. This extension gives more time but docs not extend past July 31, 2020.

LTC facilities are also encouraged to use the MD Think system to ensure timely filing.
Reminder: MD Think System

MDH and DHS invite you to use the online Eligibility and Enrollment system. Since the launch of the system in 2018, MDH and DHS have made a tremendous effort to improve the user experience by improving online support and application functionality. If you haven’t used it since it first launched, you’ll see a vast change and a more reliable system for your submissions. Submitting a paper application requires a local worker to key in all the information submitted and then upload the documents, which adds time to the overall determination process. The E&E System is here to help!
