Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
(Hebrews 12:1)
FIRST PHOTO OF IMPRISONED PASTOR WANG YI SURFACES

Pastor Wang Yi of Sichuan Chengdu Early Rain Covenant Church was sentenced to 9 years imprisonment on a charge of “inciting subversion of state power” last year.

On March 25, a photo from an unspecified source showing Pastor Wang in prison circulated online for the first time. Click here to read the full report.

Please continue to pray for Pastor Wang and his wife, who is still closely monitored by state security officers.

Churches are surviving the Coronavirus, but the next test—increased government monitoring and oversight of church activities and leaders—may prove to be more difficult and longer lasting.

The South Korean government is receiving high praise from other governments around the world for its use of so-called “big data” and artificial intelligence to profile and track members of the Shincheonji cult in the government’s fight against the Coronavirus. But now that the government has found these ‘big data’ tools to be so useful in dealing with a cult, it may be reluctant to put the tools back in the box.

Sunday School in a Box
When the Chinese government shut down church buildings and online worship services, underground Christians developed "Sunday School in a Box" and asked for us to help fund 5,000 boxes! Each box costs $75. So far, 4,650 boxes have been funded. 350 boxes remain. Each box will provide Sunday School material for 3-8 families to disciple their children at home, since going to church is illegal for children under 18.

Pastor Tim's Prayer Points
  • Pray for Coronavirus patients in North Korea. One NK defector said she was working at a hospital in NK during the SARS outbreak in the early 2000's. She said they covered the windows so no sunlight would get in. They chained the patients to their beds. If the patients recovered, they were sent to the State Security office on suspicion of having been in China. She also said that the medicine aid received from the U.N. would go to the marketplace, not to the hospital. She said that government was not really concerned about whether the people lived or died.

  • Pray for pastors who are facing fines and sanctions from the Russian government. – The Russian government continually asks pastors and church leaders to become informants for them. When a pastor refuses, the government retaliates by fining them or taking away their church building. We are aware of several pastors who are facing this situation right now.
