Dear Parents,
This week our world travelers said goodbye to South America. I loved seeing all of the class projects which included flags, homemade musical instruments, and even a homemade piƱata. Our older kids enjoyed some engineering projects. Please read the class weekly letter to get more specific information about what activities were done in your child's class.
Next week our travelers will be off to Europe. I can't wait to see what they will learn there! Next week there is also an on-site field trip to the Jungle Gym for the kids in Blue, Rainbow, Brown, Purple, Orange, Silver, and Gold. If your child is in attendance you will see a $6 charge to your account.
Many families have picked up their school uniforms. We have most sizes in stock. A few of the bigger sizes are on their way but will be here in plenty of time for back to school.
In mentioning back to school, the teachers have decided to do something different this year. As they are in their fall classes now, they will be preparing their classes for fall as the summer comes to an end rather than all on the Friday we are closed. That said, instead of making them come to work on a Saturday or taking that family time away from our parents, they have decided to hold our Back To School Open House on Friday, August 12th. We will have our year end staff training until 2:00 and the teachers will have a sign-up sheet so parents can sign up between 2:00 and 5:45 for a 15-minute block of time for class orientation. Three families can sign up at one time to see the classroom and learn about the class routines. As this will be boring for the kids and as there will be no supervision while the teacher is answering questions, we ask that students be left at home. Only children who will be new to the school will be permitted to attend so they can meet the teachers your child has had the summer getting to know. I will let you know soon when the sign-up sheet will go up.
Finally, I understand it is a hardship to keep kids home when you need to work, but we have a number of parents sending sick children to school. When we call to have them picked up, those parents have a hard time leaving work and sick children have to wait to be picked up. This week we had several children in Silver and Gold Door out who tested positive for the flu. Not only did they have the flu and pass it on to their classmates, by the middle of the week, 2 of the 4 teachers also got sick and had to stay home. Both rooms have been deep cleaned and sanitized in addition to our nightly cleaning and sanitizing. I am begging you to please keep sick children home for the health and safety of the other children and our staff. I thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Beth Rosenthal Davis, Ed.S, NBCT
