Chairman Says FCC Working Toward Making Radio Ownership More Diverse
As calls for racial justice draw headlines across the nation, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai told InsideRadio on Tuesday (6/9) that growing diversity in radio ownership is the prime reason he pushed the a radio incubator program in a recently completed quadrennial media ownership review.

Petition Group Granted More Time to Gather Signatures in Effort to Amend Michigan Civil Rights Act
MPRN reported Wednesday (6/10) that a Michigan Court of Claims judge granted a Fair and Equal Michigan campaign request for an extension to get gather signatures to add LGBT protections to Michigan's civil rights act. The campaign asked for more time because COVID-19 emergency restrictions made it impossible for the effort to succeed.

FCC Releases EEO Audit for 35 Radio Stations - A Good Reminder to Review Your EEO Compliance

The FCC on Tuesday (6/9) released another of its regular EEO audit notices, this time targeting only about 35 radio stations. Those stations and the station employment units (commonly owned stations serving the same area) with which they are associated must provide to the FCC (by posting the information in their online public inspection file) their last two year's EEO Annual Public File reports, as well as backing data to show that the station in fact did everything that was required under the FCC rules.

Reserve Your 2020 ABIP Inspection Now
The MAB's Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) is a unique partnership between the MAB and the FCC under which stations that participate can receive a three-year exemption from routine FCC inspections.
Scheduling is still available for the 2020 Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP). The MAB will conducts these alternative inspections regionally through October.

WKAR Addresses Race And Racism In America
Michigan State University's WKAR-TV (East Lansing) is airing a series of films and new specials focused on race in America following the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, and the ensuing protests that erupted across the country and in Michigan's Capital Region.

WLEN Celebrates 55 Years of Service
Lenawee Broadcasting's WLEN-FM (Adrian) celebrated 55 years of broadcasting on June 9. Founded in 1965 by John W. Koehn, WLEN was the first FM radio station in Lenawee County. The stations first promotion was to give away FM radios so citizens could listen for entertainment and local news.
