VISITING HOPE WITH GRACE!
This past Sunday, July 11, many of us had the chance to walk next door to HOPE of Rock Hill and see what our ministry partner has been up to since moving in May!
We learned that each week, HOPE is giving out approximately 6.5 TONS of food - enough for every family member to have 3 meals a day, 7 days a week - along with financial assistance for utilities. As you might imagine, that volume requires a lot of volunteers, and a number of you went ahead and signed up to help - thank you! If you'd like to volunteer with HOPE, contact Pr. Rachel, who will connect you to HOPE's volunteer coordinator.
We also learned that canned green beans and diapers in sizes 4, 5, and 6 are in short supply and high request - if you'd like to donate some of these items, you can usually drop them off at HOPE on weekday mornings (they suggest calling ahead to make sure someone is there to meet you).
Thanks for showing your support for HOPE this weekend and going forward! We are glad to be in partnership with such an excellent organization!

UPDATE: Good Samaritan Fund
Are you in need? How about someone you know? At the June meeting, Council voted to allocate the undesignated memorial funds from 2020 to the Good Samaritan Fund, with the intention that the funds might offer help to members of Grace who could use a little financial assistance. As one member of Council put it, "We need to help the helpers and not try to pour from an empty cup. Hopefully these resources can help with that."
To request assistance from this fund, please contact either of the pastors. All assistance is confidential.

Council Comments - Sharing Good News!
+
This week, John Grogan shares about Seniors at Grace.
What an amazing opportunity I have as a member of council to highlight one of the groups that is so special to our Grace family, and that is Seniors at Grace! This group links some of our more mature members (though not always!!) in activities and outings that allow them to bond and share experiences as well as reach out to help each other when those opportunities arise. They are a wonderful group and I especially appreciate the person that coordinates and does a lot of behind the scenes work, so thank you Annie Laurie Wheat!
I have witnessed Annie Laurie preparing goodie bags weeks ahead of when they will be delivered. She includes such fun treats and quirky odds and ends that I am sure bring a smile to all those who receive them. She has such a heart for our seniors, and I know the group has benefitted in the past year especially with the communication and sense of connection that was shared even through a time where they could not be together in person.
I am excited to shine a light on this group and encourage anyone not currently involved to reach out to the Pastors, or Annie Laurie and get information on this wonderful opportunity. I know that I’m excited to join someday, I just need to grow up first!!
-John Grogan, Council member
