Dear HNPS Families,

Last week, Ms. Abate shared a book entitled “The Best Part Me” with her fourth grade students. Wendy Ewald, the book’s author, uses photography as a tool to build both literacy skills and self-esteem. Students then combined photography and writing to share the best parts of them.

As you look at the display outside 4-8’s classroom, the first thing you notice is the number of students who chose their eyes. As masks have covered our faces over the last year, it has placed more focus on our eyes and students seemed to take note of that. One student noticed that the color of his eyes appear differently depending on the light.

One positive of the last year is that we have taken more notice of things whether it be what is most important or what we have to be thankful for. As we talk about life after the pandemic, that might be one thing to hold onto.

Have a great weekend!
Best regards,

Mr. Chisholm

Updates from Nurse Molly
A handful of our teachers were able to get Covid-19 vaccine appointments through CVS this week. However, appointments filled up incredibly fast. Covid Vaccine Texts is a program that sends text message notifications when appointments become available at nearby pharmacies. Some teachers from neighboring schools have had success with CVS appointments through this site. Beginning at 8am on March 11th, early childhood, and K-12, teachers and staff will be eligible to schedule appointments through the state. Appointments may be booked at any of the 170 sites currently open to eligible residents in Massachusetts by visiting MA Vaccine Locations.

The CDC Covid-19 Data Tracker is updated daily by 8pm. We are now able to see the level of community transmission by county, number of new Covid hospitalizations, and the percent and number of each population vaccinated in the US. This data clearly proves that vaccination works. Each SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, no matter which one, is proven to stop the spread of Covid-19, prevent hospitalization and death.
