Edgewater Now: April 30 - May 6 Newsletter
Feature: Care for Real

Care for Real is a 501(c)(3) not for profit that provides free programs and services to neighbors in need. Some of these programs include food distribution five times a week, a clothing shop, a pet pantry, case management referrals and an Employment Resource Center to help clients self stabilize and get back on their feet. What was originally established as a short term fix to help families who unexpectedly found themselves on the street without food and clothing, Care for Real has morphed into one of Chicago's most impactful social service agencies. They prepare more than 1,000,000+ meals annually. In the first three months of 2021 alone, they have served more than 330,000 meals.

Care for Real is always seeking donations from the community, and are currently seeking personal care items such as shampoo, hand soap, deodorant, toilet paper, and more. For a complete list of currently needed items, go to their wish list.
