It's Happening Now!
Hopefully you have been following us on our social media pages to see the wonderful messages of gratitude shared so far during our 48-hour giving rally, ALL in for SFD (see two testimonials below!). You can also follow our progress and see how many community members are honoring those who have made an impact on their lives by visiting ALL in for SFD: Rise By Loving.
"I am grateful to be a part of the SFD community because I know it is a group that really cares about me. SFD is filled with so many people who want to help me succeed in my endeavors. Through the administration, my teachers, and the friends I’ve made, I have positively changed and am a better person because of it. It’s AN amazing community that seeks the needs of the students first to help prepare them for a great future." ~Andrew Tran '21
Alumna Nina Ryan '17 shares her gratitude for the lessons she learned while at SFD, not only academically, but also for the values that have helped shape her into the woman she is today.
All proceeds from ALL in for SFD go to our Guardian Angel Fund for tuition assistance.
Stallions in the Spotlight
Although it has been a different year for all, the St. Vincent DePaul club has been busy! They participated in several activities this year including the annual Walk for the Poor (virtually) as well as an All-School Walk Out to raise money for the poor. The students made blankets for the homeless and sent Christmas gift boxes to children in need in Mozambique and Namibia. As a club, they wrote and sent letters to LCPL Alejandro Velasquez-Valelra and sent him a care package. In February, students made signs to hang up around the building with quotes from St. Francis de Sales and St. Vincent de Paul. To end the year, the students made over 50 Easter bags for the students at Windsor STEM Academy, and last week they held their closing prayer service in the school chapel.
Last week the SFD Battle of the Books team competed against 11 Central Ohio teams and came in 4th! Students are given a list of 25 books to read and then compete in a quiz bowl style bracketed tournament.
Congratulations to senior Leah Vanasdale who advanced to Finalist standing in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program, a distinction that places her in a group of more than 15,000 students representing less than one percent of U.S. high school graduating seniors. Through this program, Leah also received a $4,000 company scholarship from LEIDOS.

Senior Scholarships

Attention Senior Parents~
We are working hard to ensure we have a complete listing of all the scholarships your student has been offered, whether they attend that college/university or not. We list each scholarship name under your student's name in the Graduation Program.

If your student has not brought in their scholarship letters to the Guidance office, please have them do so. The deadline for these letters is Friday, May 14. If the original letter is brought in, we will be happy to make a copy.

Thank you in advance for making this Graduation keepsake a special one for your student.
Tech Notes

Senior parents (and seniors):
Please remind your students to begin migrating any emails or Google Drive files they feel are needed in the future to their personal email account. If they do not have a personal Gmail account they will need to set one up to transfer these files over.

Parents of Classes of 2023, 2024 and 2025:
Please note that your student's iPad is covered by AppleCare. Should any depreciation of the iPad occur (broken screen, battery life are the big items), you have the ability to visit an Apple Store and possibly swap out the damaged iPad for a new iPad for a small fee. The AppleCare coverage is enabled for 3 years from the point the iPad is activated - typically the summer before your student's first fall semester. This would mean the AppleCare option is available up until the end of your student's junior year. Senior year there would be no coverage via this option so please take advantage of this service before the term ends. Details about AppleCare for the iPad and the exact items covered are here: https://www.apple.com/support/products/ipad/
Safety Reminder

Please do not drop off your students on Karl Road.  We have seen some very dangerous incidents of students getting out of cars on Karl Road and crossing the road through traffic. This is a tragedy waiting to happen.  We know it gets crowded, especially from 7:35am to 7:45am, but please follow the traffic pattern for everyone's safety.

Spiritual Reflection
Dear God, our world longs for the peace that can only come from you. Help us to place our cares and our hearts in your hands. Your Son taught us to trust in you and the mystery of the cross. Help us when we are afraid to trust in you and your promise of new life. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen!
