Over the last several months the Village Board has been considering amendments to the Alternative Energy Regulations (AES) as adopted by the Village in 2013. At the June 9, 2020 meeting, the Board approved revisions to these regulations, which include the prohibition of wind energy systems within the Village, as well the elimination of provisions for ground-mounted solar energy systems. Roof-mounted solar energy systems are allowed, but subject to AES Regulations. For any questions, please call the Village at 847-634-9440.

Volunteering on one of the Village's commissions or committees is an important way residents can get involved in local government. Often, the choice about which to serve on relates to professional backgrounds that can assist in the goal or mission. The Village has a total of five commissions or committees, including the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals (PCZBA), the Architectural Commission (AC), the Economic Development Commission (EDC), the
Conservancy / Scenic Corridor Committee (CSCC) and the Pathway Committee (PC). Descriptions of all of them can be found here.
There is currently an opening on the CSCC,
which advises the Village Board on conservancy districts and scenic corridors.
To submit an application, please complete the Village's Volunteer Profile Sheet, which can be faxed, emailed or dropped off at Village Hall. This form can also be filled out electronically by clicking here. Residents are encouraged to fill out a form if there is interest in being considered for any future openings.

Public Hearing on Lake Michigan Water
|
The Village of Long Grove is considering an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the Village of Buffalo Grove to access Lake Michigan water. The existing system, built in 2010, has several deficiencies, including its reliance on the deep aquifer, as well as a limited water volume capacity and limitations to the number of properties that can be served. This option is being considered due to projected reductions in operating costs, and stabilization of water rates, among other benefits.
A public hearing will take place during the June 23, 2020 Village Board meeting. This process is moving at an abbreviated pace due to deadlines set by the State of Illinois to access grants that would help to cover costs associated with accessing Lake Michigan water. Please click
here for additional information.

RPC Bridge Moved Back Into Place

View this video of the bridge during the moving process. It will remain closed until August (weather-permitting) while final work on its reconstruction is completed.
