 Destination:  World Music Day!

Map WorldMusicDay
Fun Facts:  It's another relaxing Sunday. For the holiday weekend, we're chilling with the sounds of reggae music and some contemporary and bluesy acoustic discoveries from artists around the globe. A cold drink in hand, an easy chair or deck chair if it's not raining, time to just relax. Happy Memorial Day weekend!

"World Reggae"Experience the irresistible rhythms of reggae on this global musical journey from the Caribbean to Africa and beyond.
PWM World Reggae

World Reggae is a collection of reggae-influenced tracks performed by artists from around the world. The tracks on this CD blend the upbeat and soulful groove of reggae with local influences to create new variations that will appeal to music lovers everywhere.

If music is the universal language, then Reggae is its most widely spoken dialect. The irresistible offbeat shuffle and bouncing bass lines have earned fans around the globe, and there is practically no place on Earth that has not been influenced by this Jamaican music style.

Reggae's syncopated beat fits well with most other musical styles and countless artists around the world have incorporated it into their music. While Reggae has an engaging beat you can dance to, the music alone is not the sole reason for its worldwide popularity. Reggae has also long been a tool for social and political discourse.

Click the CD above or our links below to hear samples of each track on World Reggae.

"Acoustic Cafe" -    A captivating collection of singer/songwriters from the US, Canada, South Africa and Australia.
PMW Acoutic Cafe

On Acoustic Café, Putumayo features rising young stars and new discoveries, and, in keeping with their global approach, the artists hail from around the globe. These innovative artists offer a variety of vocal highlights, from the bluesy folk stylings of Brown Bird's "Danger and Dread" to Trevor Hall's contemporary "The World Keeps Turnin'."

Sarah Jarosz's rendition of Bob Dylan's "Ring Them Bells" demonstrate the power of contemporary artists to re-interpret beloved classics in their own styles.  Lucy Kaplansky hews to a more traditional folk sensibility on "Manhattan Moon".

Jon and Roy offer the uplifting "Any Day Now".   Follow the red balloon and give a listen . . .
