MCPK INSIDER
SPECIAL EDITION (WEEK IV)
Dear MCPK Families,

I want to wish all of you a healthy and peaceful holiday. For those of you that celebrate Passover or Easter, I hope that you are able to find ways to safely connect with family and f riends. My son, Finn, and I had our first virtual Passover Seder last night. It felt good to see my relative’s faces and carry on our traditions in a new way…a great reminder not to take such things or each other for granted.  My niece made homemade matzoh and Finn decided to participate in his birthday suit. It was different, but also special and funny.

This is a sad and uncertain time, but it is also an opportunity to slow down and appreciate our families and the time we have together. There is a lot of kindness and generosity happening in our community right now. Let’s all do our part to focus on the positive and be creative about supporting others in any way that we can. We will be observing spring break according to the MPS school calendar tomorrow and next week, but we are still here for you and your children. If you need anything, please reach out. We mean it when we say “MCPK, Together Apart.”  No matter what choices families have to make right now, we are still a community and our resources are available to all of you.

Governor Murphy has made the closure of all New Jersey school indefinite. We will all have to wait and see, but we do not expect to reopen our building on April 20 th as we had hoped.  We will continue remote learning on Monday, April 20 th after the break.  In the meantime, we hope you will pick up a Take Home Kit to keep your kiddos busy. The kits will remain outside the Pre-K on the back fire escape stairs (see photo) and we will restock them every few days. Hopefully, they will stay dry. Remember that you can print out the activities from our website. If the children enjoy the activities or need something a little different, let us know and we will create a second packet guided by your feedback.

I hope to see some MCPK signage and artwork displayed around town this week. Please keep sending photos of your children—we love to see their faces and celebrate their hard work. Share great resources that you find with us, set up a sanitary and safe toy or book exchange with another family, bake something delicious (and leave it on my porch—mostly kidding!)…Take advantage of this time—the new normal will happen soon enough.

Be safe, sane and well,

Ms. Amy

Have a wonderful holiday!
