Pie for Pi Day!
Celebrate Pi Day with a delicious pie and support UMCE’s Program Ministries! On Sunday, 3.14 (March 14th), the Finance Committee will sell Village PieMaker fruit pies in Fellowship Hall from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (or until they are gone). No need to pre-order. We’ll have Apple, Cherry, Peach, Strawberry Rhubarb and Berry Medley. The pies are frozen and cost $20 each. They make a great Easter dessert!
If you would like to purchase a pie but don’t want to come into Fellowship Hall, we can bring it to your car. Just drive up to UMCE’s front door, and we’ll meet you outside. (If you’d like to make sure your favorite flavor is available before you come by, please call Debby Humphrey at 303-587-7353.)
If not all the pies are sold on Sunday, we will offer them for sale on Monday, 3.15 (March 15th) in Fellowship Hall (or outside drive up) from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
For questions, please contact UMCE’s office.
Thanks for supporting this important fundraiser for UMCE’s Program Ministries!

Update on Onsite and Online Worship
We look forward to welcoming more folk back in the coming weeks to onsite worship. We can’t believe it’s been a year since what was “normal” worship became a thing of the past. Here’s an update around onsite worship. We will continue the COVID safety protocols until the county is at a green level – and we may continue some beyond:
- masks on while in the building {those over 3 yrs, even if vaccinated}
- sanitizing hands and temperature check on entering
- chairs in the sanctuary safe spaced in groups and sanitized between services
- speakers, soloists and song leader behind plexiglass shields
- one designated entrance and contact list sign-in sheet
- safe distancing from non-family members while in the building
- avoiding touching or hugging others
- adhering to posted bathroom use guidelines
- fellowship time after worship remains on hiatus
We will continue the online service using the same format at least through June. We are so grateful to those of you who have been a part of both onsite and online worship throughout this past year. We pray that we have continued to provide strength, inspiration, faith growth and hope through our times of worship.

“Jesus said to his disciples, ‘I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Luke 22:15
Before he entered into the final painful phase of his ministry here on earth, Jesus got together with friends, seeking out this time for companionship and sharing. Thoughts about what happened in that upper room with his disciples undoubtedly went through Christ’s mind as he suffered on Good Friday. Knowing that he had spent these special moments with his disciples must certainly helped Jesus through his moments of loneliness on the cross.
Allowing for time to be with friends and family can increase our perseverance potential, too. Being with those who love and care for us can ease the pain when we pass through periods of loneliness. Sharing our concerns with fellow believers can get us through days of spiritual uncertainty. And learning from the experiences of other people of faith can enable us to journey on with greater bravery.
Lord Jesus, may we gather together with brothers and sisters in the faith as often as we can so that our perseverance might be more potent. Amen.

Journey Toward Racial Justice – Take 2
Did you miss joining our church’s Journey Toward Racial Justice Study group when it started this past summer? Here’s your chance to catch up with much of what we’ve learned. Heather McGaughey and Carolyn Hohne are each offering an abbreviated 8-week session that will cover much of the learning that the group has done to date. The study is being advertised across the Mountain Sky Conference and space is limited, so sign up soon if you’re interested.
Engagement: Each week, you will be asked to review articles, videos and/or websites online and then have a conversation about the assignment on a 1-hour Zoom gathering. The assignments should take 60 minutes or less each week to complete. During the 8 weeks, it is our hope that you will:
- Become conscious of your own personal biases and lose the guilt that may be preventing you from taking action to make a difference.
- Review a portion of the history of Black and Indigenous peoples; history that was not likely in our history books.
- Identify what you can do to become an effective ally.
There will be 2 different 8-week sessions offered via Zoom. With the hopes of creating a space for brave conversation, each session is limited to 12 participants:
Option One, facilitated by Heather McGaughey:
Monday evenings 6:30-7:30pm – beginning April 5th, 2021
Option Two, facilitated by Carolyn Hohne:
Friday mornings from 8:30-9:30am – beginning April 9th, 2021.

General Conference postponed again until '22 & impact on '21 Annual & Jurisdictional Conference dates
From D.S. Jessica Rooks:
It was announced February 25, 2021 that General Conference has again been postponed and the new dates are August 29-September 6, 2022.
The Council of Bishops has announced a special General Conference for one day, May 8, 2021 in order to address 12 business items (housekeeping items that are needed based on the postponement of GC). This special GC will not address the legislation regarding the denominational tension and potential split.
Jurisdictional Conferences have been rescheduled to the fall of 2022, with special Jurisdictional Conferences scheduled for July 2021 for the purpose of retirement, election and assignment of bishops.
This will have an impact on our 2021 Annual Conference, but we don't yet know what that will look like. Please be aware that the MSC Annual Conference will most likely be rescheduled, and that information will be shared as soon as possible.

Helpful Hints for Scheduling a COVID Vaccine
Clear Creek County vaccine info and sign up, click here.
Safeway -- Their online site is the easiest to navigate. Between 9:30-10:30 a.m. seems to be the best time to try, but you can try throughout the day. Go to this site and enter your zip code. Enter that you are willing to travel up to 50 miles. The Evergreen or Conifer store will come up first [depending on your zip code]. If it doesn't have appointments, open the dropdown box and keep clicking down the store list one by one until open appointments appear. Don't pick the first appointment available as it will be filled by the time you complete the registration questions. Though if they tell you your appointment spot is filled, don't panic, they keep your registration, you just have to go back and pick a new time. Make sure you download and print the CO form you need to complete and bring with you.
King Soopers -- Their online site is a bit more complicated as you have to go store by store to search for availability. Click here for their page. Don't begin until after 9:30 a.m., as they haven't had time find out what is coming in and get it on the site much before then. When there's no availability at a store you have to go back to step one to pick another store. Still, folk are having pretty good luck if they are willing to do this. Try the listings for Lakewood, Wheat Ridge and Littleton.
Stride Community Health -- Register online [stridechc.org] or by calling. [303-360-6276]. When appointments become available, they will contact you and find out which sites you are willing to go to. They have several clinics on the westside of the Denver areas. They will find an appointment for you at the clinics you are willing to go to. They also have a satellite clinic in Bailey.

Become a Member of Our Virtual Choir
Worship music leader, Nathan Jensen, is putting together a virtual choir for special music on both Palm Sunday and Easter. By singing along with a singer you hear in your ear, you record your part for these special pieces. Nathan guides you through the whole process. He then will bring all the voices together for what is sure to be a highlight of worship on these Sundays. He will send out recordings for you to sing a long with and you will have until the 14th of March to get your recording back to Nathan.

Lenten Sermon Series – “Satisfying Our Soul’s Search for More”
Pastor Deb will bring the Lenten sermon series “Satisfying Our Soul’s Search for More” beginning the Sunday before Ash Wednesday. No matter how good life is, most Christians thirst for something more. Although we are people of faith, many of us aren't satisfied. We long for lives that are more fulfilled, more rich, more meaningful, and more joyful. These messages help us identify our individual thirsts and shows us the great adventure when we discover the freedom, promise, and rewards that come with committing ourselves to a closer relationship with God.
Feb 14: "Priming the Pump"
Feb 21: "Taking the Plunge"
Feb 28: "Tapping Into the Source"
Mar 7: "Jumping in With Both Feet"
Mar 14: "Offering a Drink to Others"
Mar 21: "Filling the Bucket to Overflowing"
