Dear colleague,

The only way out is through, wrote Robert Frost, and the only path forward is together. So, the National Press Club Journalism Institute is working with the journalism community to provide journalists and communicators with opportunities for community, conversation, craft development, and comfort in these challenging times.

Three weeks ago, we launched a daily newsletter Covering Coronavirus , which hundreds of you now read daily. The team of Beth Francesco, Jim Kuhnhenn, and Holly Butcher Grant has reported more than 29 original stories and Q&As with journalists about best practices; written 20 self-care tips; created a March Madness-style Book Bracket ; and started a virtual library in Slack. You can  see their work here , sample the newsletter  and  sign up .

One week ago, we opened a new writing group , which has quickly become a core part of our day. For a half-hour every Monday-Friday, a diverse group gathers, writes, offers feedback and exchanges inspiration. “This writing group is the highlight of my day,” participants tell us.  You can join us here

Today, we are announcing five community conversations  to connect and learn together.

All of our programs are currently free so that anyone can benefit from them. If our work has been helpful to you,  please show your support by making a donation of any size  — every dollar counts — so we can continue to help journalists and communicators inform the public in ways that inspire civic engagement. If there are ways our work can be more helpful to you,  please let me know

Thank you for all you’re doing to help each other and your communities.

Gratefully,

Julie Moos
