Remembering Jeff Pettegrew We regret to inform that our friend and former CPO, Jeff Pettegrew, has lost his long-term battle with cancer. “I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jeff for many years and was proud to have recruited him to ARAWC as its first Chief Policy Officer. His deep knowledge and expertise in the area of employee injury was a great match to ARAWC’s need for a credible spokesperson for its mission and strategy. His charisma, personal charm, and camera-friendly presentation made him a great addition to our leadership team. Being a man of great integrity and personal wit, made him all the more likable and a trusted advisor to the Association. ARAWC continues to support COVID-19 liability coverage The Pandemic Liability Protection bill for employers (SB 6), was voted out of the Texas Senate on Thursday, April 8. SB 6 was a top priority for ARAWC this session, so having it clear one chamber so early in the session is a great sign for its potential success. Chairman Hancock stated on the floor: "Business owners and employees went above and beyond throughout the pandemic to open and operate safely...They don't deserve to have their livelihoods destroyed by frivolous lawsuits." ARAWC will continue to work with the Texas Civil Justice League and others to pass the bill out of the House and get it to Texas Governor Abbott's desk for signature. DWC-5 Reminder This is a reminder for all ARAWC members to submit their DWC-5 forms by the deadline: April 30, 2021.  Click here to get the form and submission instructions.

QCARE Renewals The QCARE designation is valid for one twelve month period. If you are currently approved, you will need to renew on an annual basis. ARAWC will send renewal reminders regularly. Either you or your authorized representative can go to qcare.org to apply for or renew your QCARE designation. QCARE remains a simple, no-cost, online designation. What QCARE offers to employers: Reputation management by bringing clarity and credibility to your Texas injury benefit program. You are not simply "opting out".  Sustaining a Healthy, Competitive Marketplace with employer choice among insurance companies and service professionals. Enhanced Defense of Negligence Liability Claims and Regulatory Investigations through compliance with industry-set standards.  ARAWC appreciates you maintaining your QCARE designation. QCARE helps you and supports ARAWC's mission of protecting and promoting the distinct, proven advantages of Texas injury benefit programs.

ARAWC Committee Call for Volunteers ARAWC needs you! We're looking for volunteers to join the ARAWC Communications Committee, as well as our other committees. The Communications Committee meets biweekly, and works to support ARAWC's goals and mission by reaching our members and industry partners. If you think the Communications Committee would be a great place for you to further your connection with ARAWC, please complete the volunteer form and send to info@arawc.org.

Four Ways Members Support ARAWC 1. Share ARAWC membership information with your clients and business partners. For an example that you can share in management reports and client stewardship meetings, click here. 2. Encourage your clients to get the QCARE designation. Service providers can serve as an authorized representative to get the QCARE designation for their clients. 3. Volunteer to serve on an ARAWC committee. Click here for the volunteer form.
