FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

January 7, 2022

Greetings Tiger Students and Families,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2022. What an “interesting” 2021 we all experienced, but so much to look forward to as we move into 2022. I want to take the time in this message to recapture some previous communication and share some new/updated information as well.

We will continue to follow all COVID protocols which have helped us remain in school for in-person learning- wearing a mask, social distancing, and regular washing of hands. If students or adults have any of the COVID 19 symptoms, I asked that they remain home as a precaution to help keep us all safe. I/we encourage the student/family to get tested as well.

It has been such a remarkable and enjoyable experience for our student, families, and staff to be able to enjoy watching our students perform in activities, plays, performances, and athletics in person. Just a reminder to all our students and fans of how important it is to display sportsmanship, focus on our performers and teams, and cheer and celebrate their success and not display, chant, or have cheers that demean or criticize our opponent, their school, or our performers. I do not expect our students and fans to engage in behavior that takes away from the spirit and efforts of others. You will be asked to leave and could be suspended from attending future events if needed. Let’s continue to show how we as “Tigers” represent the pride and tradition we have at LC.

One of our top goals and priorities as a school is to assure that students are at school on time and attending all classes. We have been discussing as a staff some solutions to help support our students and staff with this goal. We will be implementing some new strategies, so please encourage your student to continue following expectations regarding attendance, being on time to all classes, and when using a hall pass. We are a closed campus as well, meaning that once a student arrives for the day, they are to remain on campus until the end of the school day. (Unless excused by a parent or for a school activity or event)

We are looking forward to continuing this school year strong, and your support and feedback is so important for student success. Together, we are such a strong “Tiger” community! If you have any question, please reach out to me anytime at ivanc@spokaneschools.org.

Enjoying serving as your principal,

Mr. Corley

RUBBER CHICKEN

rc2022.png

The Rubber Chicken spirit basketball game is on January 18 between the LC Tigers and the Ferris Saxons!

The game will be held at the Spokane Veterans Arena, managed by the Public Facilities District (PFD). The event will follow all public health guidelines in place for the arena. Spectators are required to be masked at all times while inside the event. In addition, spectators are asked to sit within their family units and social distance as best they can from others.

Students can use their GSL pass or purchase tickets in the Business Office for $6. Tickets purchased at the door will be $7 for adults and $5 for senior citizens.

For LC this year, the Rubber Chicken Games are a lively tale about a notorious buccaneer, “Pirate Chuck”. Along with his fearless Tiger Crew, Chuck sets off on a dangerous sea voyage in search of sunken treasure. After traveling far and wide and battling ruthless bandits with their swords, Pirate Chuck and his Tiger Crew finally locate the treasure they were seeking. The ancient chest was overflowing with diamonds and gems. But what Pirate Chuck and the Tigers were most thrilled to find were the priceless GOLDEN CHICKEN DOUBLOONS!

PARKING.png

Student and Parent/Visitor Parking

Parent/Visitor Parking: LC does not have designated visitor parking, so you can park at any of the metered spots across the street. For after-hours events, you can park for free in any of the parking lots under the freeway. The doors to the Commons building are handicap accessible.

Student Drop-off/Pick-Up: Before and after school, 4th Avenue in front of LC is a busy place with school buses and parents competing for limited space. In order to help alleviate congestion, we recommend that parents drop off and pick up students either on 5th Avenue, 3rd Avenue or a block east or west of LC on 4th Avenue. It is important to not park (even for a drop off) in the bus zones.

Student Parking: LC students can park in the two freeway lots (in front of the Field House and in front of the church to the east). Be sure to display your student parking permit to avoid getting a ticket in the student lots. Student parking permits can be purchased in the Business Office for $5. The lot directly in front of the main building and the parking garage are only for LC staff and are monitored for cars without staff permits.
