Stakeholder newsletter - July 2021
From the Chief Executive

This edition of our stakeholder newsletter sets out some of the work we’re doing to make it easier for local people to access the care they need at a time of mounting demand for our services.

We’re also playing our part in the national vaccination programme, running a mass vaccination clinic in Ealing, as well as smaller clinics, working with our partners to make the Covid-19 vaccination available to staff, patients and the public.

For an overview of the past year – like no other I’ve experienced during my career in the NHS – you can read our Year in Review 2020/21.

Please take the time to visit our new website and let us know what you think at Communications@westlondon.nhs.uk.

Protecting yourself and others

A reminder that existing infection prevention and control measures remain in place across all Trust sites despite the lifting of most legal restrictions on social contact for the general public earlier this month.

Staff, contractors and visitors to Trust sites must continue to:

  • Maintain a two metre social distance
  • Wear a face mask (supplied by the Trust) on entry to any Trust building or ward area
  • Wash or sanitise their hands regularly

Please check the information on our website before you visit.

Please help us to keep our patients and staff safe.
Annual General Meeting

Our virtual Annual General Meeting took place on 13 July, with a review of the year, including a financial overview and an update on new developments in local services. Two service users, Tanya and Aaron, spoke about their experiences on the way to recovery.

Presentations, with questions and answers from the panel discussion, are available here. You can read our Year in Review and Annual Report & Accounts 2020/21 here.
Children and younger people: mental health advice and support

If you’re feeling more stressed or anxious and it’s making you behave differently, there’s a range of support available:

  • Speak CAMHS - a helpline for young people, their parents, carers, GPs and other health professionals seeking advice and support.

Call freephone 0800 328 4444 and choose option 2 between 8am-11pm (Monday-Friday) and 12-8pm (weekends and bank holidays)

  • Kooth – an anonymous, digital service for young people aged 11-25 years, offering support and advice from an online community of peers and a team of experienced, accredited counsellors.

MINT: transforming community-based mental health care

We’re improving the way we provide mental health services across Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow so that they’re easier to access, better connected to the community and designed to meet individual needs.

We’ve called this MINT: mental health integrated network teams.

Working with GPs and social services, these multi-disciplinary teams will deliver mental health care and treatment, alongside physical health and social care needs.

National accreditation for Ealing speech and language therapy team

Ealing speech and language therapy team – working as part of Ealing Community Partners - is only the fourth NHS team in the UK to become Communication Accessible. We offer speech and language therapy for both adults and children.

The Communication Access symbol identifies organisations where staff have completed Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists training, focusing on making their services more accessible for people of all ages with communication difficulties.
