Reopening Updates
Student Safety Videos and Resources to Share with Your Student

As we prepare for a transitional reopening, we want students to be aware of the safety precautions that have been put in place for their health and safety. We have also created a student safety webpage that has a collection of videos, posters, and activities to help students understand their role in keeping themselves and everyone around them safe. You can visit the page by clicking here or visiting your school's Digital Backpack.

Maintaining Social Distancing During In-Person Instruction

As part of the NUSD COVID-19 Safety Procedures Guide, each school site has outlined its procedures for practicing social distancing when students are on campus for in-person instruction.

From directional signs and arrows to assist with traffic flow, to reminder posters of healthy practices while on campus, to the set-up and configuration of classrooms and drop-offs and pickups, all of these procedures have been put in place for the safety of everyone.

Families are encouraged to read and become familiar with the procedures prior to students returning to in-person instruction. Please visit your school’s Digital Backpack for details specific to your student’s school and look specifically for COVID Safety Procedures Guideline and School Site Plans.
Keeping Students Connected
Keeping Students Connected through Cooking Club

Each week, 7-8th grade students at Heron School transform into master chefs as part of Ms. Riedel’s Cooking Club, an extracurricular activity provided by the school to help students stay connected and engaged.

Students who “Zoom in” from 3:30-5:30 p.m. every Friday night get to learn and prepare fresh and tasty recipes ranging from cream cheese wontons and healthy vegetable fried quinoa to beef taco empanadas with homemade dough and fresh pico, chocolate-covered strawberries, and healthy spaghetti and meatballs. Hotspots in Exchange for Household Internet

If you checked out a mobile internet hotspot from Natomas Unified, we have a great opportunity to provide you with stable and reliable internet connection for your house with the Internet Essentials Program. The service will provide you with coverage for multiple rooms and multiple users. The District will be covering the cost of this service during distance learning.

If you have not taken advantage of this opportunity attached is a flyer with information on how to get signed up. To apply, you’ll need to have an NUSD personalized code (promo code). If you do not have your personalized code, please contact us at (916) 567-5880 and we will provide it.
