President's Message
We wrapped up the Neighborhood Council elections this past month. To everyone that put their hat in the ring, I commend you. Thank you for being willing and ready to step up to represent our community and to give your time as a public servant. A big congratulations to all those that were elected. I am very excited for what can be accomplished in the next term and hopeful that by transitioning the boards well, working effectively and cooperatively, and welcoming all voices to the table, the new board will be able to meet many of the needs of the neighborhood. Congratulations!

Please note that the 2 Board Member roles, Senior Stakeholder and Youth Seat, have not been filled. If you are between 14 and 17 years old or 55 years or older and a stakeholder, we invite you to consider running. The Board will vote on  and appoint interested stakeholders to these seats within the first couple board meetings of the new term. The new board term begins July 1, 2021.

We have begun to see the city open up, and for many areas, things are opening in new ways. Many students are on campus with their teachers following CDC guidelines and many restaurants have outdoor seating for dining, in addition to many other ways that the city is rebuilding and returning to in-person life. As we continue to reemerge, please follow the CDC guidelines according to whether you are vaccinated or not. Doing so is critical for maintaining the low COVID infection rates that we are seeing and saving lives. We have a handy resource for you here in the newsletter to help with understanding the newest and latest information.

This month we celebrate mothers. Thank you to the very important leaders in our community - mothers. May you feel celebrated, loved, and cared for. Whether you are a mother, grandmother, abuela, godmother, or a person that wears a “mother hat”, happy Mother's Day! We also commemorate at the end of the month those who passed while serving. We honor and extend our gratitude to veterans and families of fallen soldiers.

We wish our community a thoughtful Memorial Day. As always, please reach out to our board with any questions, needs, or concerns.
