PRINCIPAL DISPATCH
Dear ICCP families,

As discussed in my last Principal Dispatch, our Scenario Planning Committee has been hard at work and recently finalized a recommended plan to return to school that is now being reviewed by the Diocese of Joliet. Once again, I thank them for their time and dedication as we plan for the safe return of our teachers and students in less than four weeks.

With this extensive plan in place, I am confident that the professional dedication and resilience of our faculty and staff will allow our school to thrive in the face of these challenges ahead. Above all, the success of our educational plans for 2020–21 will rest on the cooperation, trust, and enthusiasm of our students, parents, faculty, and staff.

IC Catholic Prep will welcome students back on Monday, August 17th.
Freshmen & Transfer Students will attend orientation in the morning, while Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will be assigned times according to their last names to drop off forms, pick up schedules, and organize lockers.
Seniors

A-L | 12:00-12:30 pm
M-Z | 12:30-1:00 pm
Juniors

A-L | 1:00-1:30 pm
M-Z | 1:30-2:00 pm
Sophomores

A-L | 2:00-2:30 pm
M-Z | 2:00-2:30 pm
During the first three weeks of school, we will implement an alphabetical blended learning plan , also commonly known as a hybrid schedule. As part of this plan, we have installed cameras in each classroom to allow students at home to attend class and participate in live, synchronous learning. On an β€œA Day,” students with last names beginning A-L will attend school in-person while the rest of our students will sign in via video conferencing at home. Students with last names beginning M-Z will attend school on β€œB Days.”

Week 1 will follow a half day schedule from 7:45 am-12:18 pm to ensure that all students can adapt to new safety procedures and norms. There will be no lunches. Students with last names A-L will attend in-person learning on 8/18 and 8/20, while students M-Z will attend in-person learning on 8/19 and 8/21. During the first week of school, students at home will NOT be required to log-in remotely for synchronous learning.

Week 1 (Half Days: 7:45 am-12:18 pm)
During Weeks 2 and 3, we will run alphabetical Blended Learning on full day schedules, and students at home will be required to log-in remotely for synchronous learning.

Week 2 (Full Days: 7:45 am-2:50pm)
Week 3 (Full Days: 7:45 am-2:50pm)
During the first three weeks, we will make adjustments as needed and evaluate our option to return to full, in-person learning based upon the health and well-being of our students and staff in the overall context of regional conditions.

We recognize the need to β€œtake it slow” as we return to in-person instruction. We also understand that not all students and families may feel comfortable returning to in-person instruction immediately. We will send a "Return to School and Technology Survey" to all parents early next week to indicate if a student will be attending in-person learning at the beginning of the year or attending class remotely.

We will provide more information over the next few weeks through my Principal Dispatch, on our school website, and through social media ( Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter).

May Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception continue to guide and protect you.

Sincerely,
Stephen Davidson

Empower Illinois

Help make quality, Catholic, college-prep education possible for more students. Especially now, with the Coronavirus pandemic, the need for scholarship help has been dramatically increased. The need is especially real at ICCP, where, with our growing student body, we expect higher demand for financial aid than ever this fall.

We are looking to meet that need by using the Invest in Kids Act State Tax Credit program through Empower Illinois.
