WAYS YOU CAN REACH OUT....................................

The Life of the Church
We need your help! Please take photos of anything you are doing and/or involved in with regard to the life of the church, and send them to the office. We would like photos to document all the activity surrounding our church life. This is unlike what we were doing during the Pandemic, sharing our photos of all of our activities, but rather photos of anything regarding church involvement.

Will test to see if spread in the morning and will put tubes in his back for kidneys to drain (will have a bag). Starting hormone therapy and by 6 weeks tumor should have shrunk and can do tubes with stents. This will be a tough time on him. Should get biopsy results in few days. Dr. said he thought slow growing and treatable. He is in Columbia at Maury Regional now. His wife Angela said if he does well they should go home tomorrow night or Tuesday.

FOOD PANTRY NEEDS
North County Community Food Bank
The food bank is in need. Our giving goal is 125 # of food and needed items per month. Last month, we surpassed our goal! If everyone brought just one can on Sundays, that would make a huge difference.

"JUST ONE THING"

Just One Thing is starting to collect items to go in backpacks for students at school. We have received a flyer on the items that are needed.

SOME THINGS TO KNOW...........................................
|
|
Our long time member, Steve Root, has joined his beloved wife. Steve passed away in the early morning of July 22nd. He was surrounded by his loving family and was at peace as he passed from this world to the next. As you know, Steve had deep faith and his family members are all deeply devout Christians. Please lift them up all in prayer. We will keep you informed regarding memorial plans. In the meantime, you may send your condolences to:

Women’s Retreat
The Women's Retreat is scheduled for
Friday September 17-Sunday Sept 19, 2021:
Methodist Church Retreat Center in Ocean Park, WA
The theme for our upcoming retreat this year is “WonderFull World.” The weekend will include time for worship, Bible study, laughter, quiet reflection, and free time for activities of your choice—walks on the beach, napping, reading, knitting, shopping, etc. And don't forget yoga offered by our own Nancy Volgamore! We hope you can join us. We meet Friday evening thru Sunday breakfast. We enjoy a fun study, meals together and time for shopping, walking, chatting and relaxing.
As we travel to all seven continents, we will explore the wonders of God's creation from the ends of the earth to the depths of our own hearts! I have been to a lot of retreats in my life. In 2018 I attended my first women's retreat at this church. I got so much out of it, I volunteered to head it up the following year (with a lot of help from my friends). The retreat was postponed for the last two years, but we're ready to give it a go, and we already have a number of people interested. It is truly a wonderful opportunity to experience God's love through teaching and fellowship in a beautiful beach setting.
The cost for your room, the study, Friday and Saturday dinner and Saturday and Sunday breakfast is $130.00. We will eat lunch out on Saturday. $65.00 is due by August 15, with the balance of $65.00 due by Sept. 6. Please make checks payable to BGCUMC and mark women’s retreat on the bottom of the check. Checks are not refundable except if there are extenuating circumstances. Questions or concerns? Call Sally Bohna at 360-606-3710 or Jean Brown at 460-904-1822.
If you haven't been to this retreat before, we don't have just one speaker. It's a real team effort. Part of the fun is the opportunity to work together beforehand. I hope you'll join us!

MINISTRY FAIR!!! Sunday, August 29th,
WHAT'S GOING ON AT BGCUMC -
GET CONNECTED
Committee Chairs, please start planning what you would like to display on your table!
We are planning for Sunday, August 29th, to have a "Ministry fair". We would like to set up tables representing each group with information and at least one representative to let folks know what each group does. There are a lot of people who not only don't know about these great groups, but especially don't know what they do. Start thinking about what you would like to do to represent your group. This is about HOSPITALITY.

BIBLE ON CD
There is a complete "Bible on CD" set (NIV version) available in the church if anyone would like to borrow it, or keep it. It is on the bookshelf in the Narthex.

From our Musical Director, Patrick Brown
Last Sunday, Cece Kiino mentioned during Joys and Concerns that I am having a wonderful time working with all of our enthusiastic singers who give their time and talent on Thursdays at 6:00. Pastor Susan called us the Loaves and Fishes choir as we grow each week. I like that, and want you to know that you’re welcome to join us. I think you’ll be glad you did!
