eNews for March 17, 2021
You are invited to a Holy and Life-Giving Lent
Our stations will be open Thursday through Saturday, weather permitting, 10 to 6.

We have created five outdoor prayer stations for this season of Lent around our church campus. There are four along the front and one in the Gabriel Garden in the back.
Regathering Update
Dear People of God,

We have some good news to share. As spring draws near, our Task Force and Vestry met this week to consider how best to begin the process of gradually regathering for in-person worship and reopening our doors. Our St. Andrew’s clergy and staff are being vaccinated. The Diocese of North Carolina has issued new guidelines that set local benchmarks for small outdoor and indoor worship services. After reviewing these guidelines, current Guilford County infection and vaccination rate data, and the required precaution and sanitation measures, we are delighted to begin offering opportunities to worship together in person and pray in our sanctuary.

Be assured that we will continue to provide virtual worship. For the foreseeable future, we will offer a Sunday morning online worship service at 10 a.m. We understand that we have parishioners at high risk of severe illness and who have not yet been vaccinated.

As we approach Holy Week, we invite you to participate in the events and services that deepen your walk with Christ. We have five outdoor prayer stations, designed around the theme Love Changes Everything, that provide prompts for reflection and prayer on our lovely campus. To prepare for our Palm Sunday service, we will offer a Palm and Communion Pick-up on Saturday, March 27, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. At that time, we also will be distributing prayers and liturgies for home worship during Holy Week.

On Good Friday, the church sanctuary will be open for prayer and self-guided Stations of the Cross from 12 to 3 p.m. (with music for meditation from 12 to 1 p.m.). In addition to our Festive Easter Eucharist online at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning, we will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord with an outdoor Eucharist at 3 p.m.! Look for more information next week. Everyone should be masked and practice social distancing during worship and while visiting St. Andrew’s.

If COVID infection rates continue to decline, we plan to return to an in-person Sunday morning 10 a.m. worship service in the sanctuary (currently limited to 25 people) this spring. This service will also be live-streamed. We also hope to open the church campus up for small group gatherings in spring or early summer.

We are excited to begin worshipping in person together again, even as we know there are many in our community who cannot yet join us. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward with both caution and joy. As we continue our Lenten journey and prepare to remember our Lord’s passion and resurrection once again, we pray that this new chapter will be marked by hope and new life.

In sure and certain hope,
Rev. Ginny Inman, Rector
Marion Seaman, Senior Warden
Sandy Shelton, Senior Warden

Easter Flowers – Make Your Gift and Dedication by Tuesday March 23rd
As many of you know, one of the duties of St. Andrew’s Altar Guild is to decorate our worship space for special services, including Easter. On this very special and festive day, we would like the church altar to be full of beautiful flowers, especially lilies. We invite you to support the Altar Guild with an honorary or memorial Easter Flower Offering. The bulletin for Easter Sunday will list all donors and dedications.

Gifts may be made online at this link, at church during Tuesday office hours, or by mail. All gifts should be received by Tuesday March 23rd.

Memorial Benches
We would like to purchase several weather resistant benches to place around our campus, as a sign of welcome and sanctuary. These are one more way of saying, "wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here." The benches cost $400 each. If you would like to sponsor a bench as a memorial or as an honor gift, please contact Rev. Ginny Inman at ginny@standrewsgso.org.

Donations-Related Tax Information

There may be tax advantages when making a donation to the church either for your pledge or for a special gift to the church. Such gifts may be made through a financial account such as a qualified charitable distribution or a direct stock donation where you are not exposed to the tax implications from the application of the stock price. However, when these contributions are made, the church requests you specify with your financial institution on the memo line that you by name are making the contribution when you plan to have the funds directly deposited into the church's financial account from your financial account. This is better known as an ACH transaction where there is no human interaction with the funds and there is not even a check that is involved in the transaction.

If you do not specify on the memo line in the ACH transaction that you are making this gift, then the church has no way of learning who has given the funds until you notice that you did not receive credit for such a gift when you obtain your Quarterly Giving Statement from the church. We are unable to gain this information from any financial institution due to privacy laws. When you do receive your 1st quarter giving statement, please review your statement carefully. If you have given a gift to the church that is not reflected on your statement, please contact Ray Marsh, our new bookkeeper (bookkeeperstagso@gmail.com), to discuss so that we may annotate where credit is due and correct your statement.
A Simple Prayer Marking One Year of Pandemic Life
God you are with us all the time. All the time you are with us.

Today we remember. We remember how things used to be. We remember how many things we have gone through. We remember things we missed and people we lost.

Today we hope. We hope for healing. We hope for vaccines. We hope for wisdom.

Today we share. We share smiles with one another.
We share our joys and our sorrows. We share our dreams for the future.

God you are with us, all the time. All the time, you are with us.
Be with us as we remember, hope, and share. Amen.
