Staff's 'Rec Trek' top finish benefits local food pantry
In an effort to move and stay healthy, Skokie Park District staff recently participated in the 'Parks & Rec Trek,' a six-week steps challenge between ten local park districts. All participants donated one canned good as part of the challenge. All canned goods were then given to the top three districts based on average steps walked over a six week period. Those three districts then donated more than 470 food items to local food pantries.

After winning the challenge last year, the Skokie Park District came in second place this year. The district and its neighbor, first place Main Niles Special Recreation Association, agreed to team up, donating more than 400 food items to the Niles Township Food Pantry.
