Hello from Haiti!
We asked, and you responded!
Back in June we wrote about the lack of power at the clinic, which has been an ongoing struggle for years. The city rarely provides power, and fuel for the generator is hard to find and is very expensive. We presented the need to purchase a solar power system, and you responded right away! Because of your giving, we were able to engineer and purchase a system. This will be a real blessing for the clinic in the years to come, and will improve their ability to provide quality care.
It was staged and tested in Georgia.
Because of the complexity of the system, we had it delivered to Georgia initially, where we could stage, test, and document the system. If anything did not work, it was better to discover that in the USA rather than in Haiti! The photo shows how the system was assembled. Every cable connection was clearly labeled so as to make it easier to reconnect in Haiti. The system worked perfectly.
Now it's on the way to Haiti!
After the testing and documentation, we repackaged it on two pallets and sent it on its way to Haiti. It has completed the first part of the journey, which was to send it to Miami by truck. From there it will go by ship to Haiti, and that part of the journey will begin soon. Then, it has to clear customs and it will eventually be delivered to the clinic. This is a critical part of the journey. Please pray that the equipment will not suffer any damage, or encounter any issues with customs and delivery. The clinic is probably a couple of months or so from having the lights on, but we are encouraged by the progress! As always, we are grateful for your support and prayers.
