Pest Management Solutions for Specialty Crops and Specialty Uses
Greetings!

The following is a recap of news and updates from the IR-4 Project during the month of April. We are also continuing our spotlight series highlighting new IR-4 HQ employees.
Coffee Rust Attacks Hawaii Coffee Trees; IR-4 Fights Back
Collaboration is key to addressing pest management problems in a timely manner. When coffee rust was spotted on coffee plants in Hawaii in late 2020, we partnered with BASF Agricultural Solutions and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to develop a solution for managing the destructive fungus.

Job Posting
The quality assurance auditor will be an integral member of the IR-4 Project Quality Assurance Unit. This position will be responsible for performing various types of quality assurance audits of raw data and reports to assist in ensuring the quality and integrity of IR-4 Project submissions to the EPA. Preferred candidates will have experience in a GxP environment, excellent investigative decision-making skills and strong attention to detail. Learn more and apply.

New HQ Employee Spotlight - Cristina Marchesan Marconi
Cristina M. Marconi joined the study director team at IR-4 HQ at NC State University in July 2020, but she is no stranger to the IR-4 family. Marconi first joined the IR-4 Project in 2014 as a field research director (FRD) at Texas A&M AgriLife – Weslaco and recently moved to North Carolina for her new role. Marconi is passionate about her work and loves the idea of giving back to the community through IR-4. Originally from Brazil, Marconi has a bachelor’s degree in biology science and a master’s degree in genetics, plant breeding and biotechnology, both from Brazilian institutions. In her spare time, Marconi enjoys mountain biking, hiking, cooking and spending lots of time outdoors with her family here and back in Brazil.
