Join the Red Devil Task Force for our first SCHOOL CLEAN UP DAY of the schoolyear!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22nd
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Meet at the front of the school. We will share a list of tasks ahead of time so you can bring gardening or hand tools.
We are approaching that time of year for our homecoming parade and float building! For those that do not know, float building is one of Druid Hills' oldest and most fun traditions. Each grade comes together to design and build a float to be a part of our homecoming parade.

The homecoming parade will be on Friday October 14th.

Float building will begin on Monday 10/3 and conclude on Thursday 10/13.

  • Unfortunately, our Fall Break falls right in the middle of what would be our normal float building schedule. So this year, we are extending the float building period to two weeks to provide each class with enough time to complete their float.
  • Students MAY NOT BUILD ANTHING ON THE FLOATS during Fall Break, Friday 10/7 thru Monday 10/10.
  • Although students will not be permitted to work on the floats, they ARE permitted to roll pomps* during their Fall Break.

Each grade will need a family to volunteer their house to host float building. The float building house should be within walking distance of the school (so that all students are able to assist with float-building) and must have ample driveway/yard space to house the float. If you are interested in hosting please reach out to Pierce Bauer, Float Building Commissioner, and he will provide you with all the needed information.

This upcoming Monday (September 12th) there will be a float building interest meeting for students in the Uhry Theater at 3:30pm. We will go over all float building rules, schedules, and each class will submit their float's theme and design. Please encourage your kids to come and participate (especially Freshmen).

We strongly encourage your kids to get involved with float building! It is a unique, one-of-a-kind tradition to Druid Hills and offers a GREAT social opportunity for students to come together, so the more students who participate the better.

For any questions or if you are interested in hosting, please reach out to Float Building Commissioner Pierce Bauer

SIGNIFICANT SUMMER 2023 ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITIES TO CONSIDER NOW
The Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the program. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom. It is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
GHP is held in mid-summer (mid-June to mid-July) as a residential educational experience on a college or university campus. Students attend classes in the mornings and afternoons in specific areas of study, and they participate in a wide variety of social and instructional opportunities every evening. Meals and rooms are provided by the program. The only required and expected costs to the students are travel expenses to and from the interviews; a few basic supplies for classes and dorm rooms; and spending money as desired during the program.
