The Daffodils, Snowdrops and Hellebores are arriving!
In last month's newsletter, my staff passed along to you the news of my husband's death. I want to thank you for the many messages of support. It meant so much to me and my family.

It's hard to believe the rebirth of spring is so early this year. Already in the first week of March, there are flowers blooming throughout my yard. It is said that spring is the season of hope and renewal and a time to look ahead. Here at the Studio, we are looking ahead to new fabrics, new lessons and much more.

In this month's newsletter is the first lesson on working with border print fabrics. I hope after watching the video you will be as enthusiastic as I am about playing with these fabrics.

Also in this newsletter, you will find news of my latest collection, links to free patterns, a helpful new product and happenings in the Studio and online.
Introducing Impressions
Arriving at the Studio in mid-March is my Impressions
collection. This 28-piece collection includes border prints and textures of vines, lattice, stucco and more which would make super backgrounds or feature fabrics.  I've divided the collection into four colorways and made them available by the yard or in fat quarter bundles.

collection here.

Border Print Lesson #1
This month, I kick off my border print series which will introduce you to the many ways you can use border prints for more than just bordering a quilt. Each month, I will present a different technique along with ideas for creating a project using that technique.

In addition to a brief look at the "anatomy" of a border print, this month I will be talking about border print squares, how to make them and how you can incorporate them into your quilts.

Here are two helpful lessons on border prints found on our website.

Products for Making Border Print Squares
Creative Grids 90° Quarter Square Ruler

To make cutting border print fabrics for your border squares super-easy, we have discovered the Creative Grids 90° Quarter Square Ruler. This ruler allows you to cut from 1" to 8" finished triangles in addition to also cutting half-square triangles. The grips on the back prevent slipping while cutting.

See the Creative Grids 90° Quarter Square Ruler and an informative video on its use.

Travel to Greece
As many of you know, I love to travel and I'd love to have you join me for my upcoming trips with Craftours.  These trips are designed to give you an unforgettable experience combining travel, arts and crafts.

In May, I will be heading to Greece to visit Athens, one of the world's oldest cities, the whitewashed paradise of the island of Mykonos and the beautiful black sand beaches of Santorini. There are only a few spots left until this trip is full.
In the Studio
  • New Fabrics on Sale Bench - If you are a Studio regular, you know that when a new fabric comes in we must make room so check out the 23 fabrics and further discounts added to our sale bench.
  • Openings in Quiltmaking by Hand Class - While my Hand Quilting class is full, I still have openings in my hand piecing class. Check out this and our other offerings on our Classes page.
  • Vintage Fabric - I started designing fabric in 1981. I thought I needed some of each fabric. Since then I have received three yards of each fabric with the exception of border prints...those are seven yards each. I have stored all of this in attic until recently when the floor started sagging. It is time to let it go! With the help of my friend, Barb, we have done a lot of sorting and much of this fabric is available now in the Studio. Watch for next week's Weekly Web Special when these fabrics will be available online in bundles of six-half yard cuts.
