O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: Increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that, with you as our ruler and guide, we may so pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Condolences

Trinity Church notes with sorrow the recent death of David Register, son of Mary Register and her late husband Jim. The prayers and sympathy of the congregation are extended to Mary in her time of mourning and to all David's family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, 30 July, at 11AM at the Church.

Father of all, we pray to you for David, and for all those whom
we love but see no longer. Grant to them eternal rest. Let
light perpetual shine upon them. May his soul and the souls
of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

Change in Sunday Morning Mask Policy

Masks are optional for those who are fully vaccinated.

While we do want to strongly encourage each other to get vaccinated, please do not assume that someone over 12 who is wearing a mask is unvaccinated and then approach them about vaccination. Additionally, in order to create an environment where people can connect within their comfort zone of risk, we are asking everyone to wear a red, yellow, or green dot on their nametag to indicate your comfort with people being closer than 6ft to you.
A red dot or no dot indicates that you would like for people to maintain at least 6ft of distance regardless of whether or not they are wearing a mask.
A yellow dot indicates that you are comfortable with someone who is wearing a mask being within 6ft of you but would like for someone who is unmasked to maintain distance.
A green dot indicates that you are comfortable with someone being within 6ft of you whether or not they are wearing a mask.
Please be patient with one another as we seek to create a space that is welcoming for people who have made various decisions regarding their comfort with risk, and please remember that someone’s desire for physical distance does not indicate a desire to be relationally distant!

Prayer Ministry at Trinity Church

Prayer Jars and Prayer Request Forms are back in their regular spots: on the table in the South Narthex (hallway between Goodwin Hall and the Sanctuary) and inside the church on the table where you pick up bulletins after you enter Sigourney Street.

Looking For Your Invitation to Realm?

The office has heard indirectly that parishioners have not received an email entitled “Trinity Episcopal Church: Join our Online Community” (the from email address should be from notifications at onrealmmail dot org) It went out on Monday, June 28 and contains instructions on how to register for Realm.
Here are a couple of steps to take:

1)   If you haven’t received an email, please check your junk mail.

2)   If you still don’t find it, please reach out to Barbara or Rev. D to ensure that your correct email address is in the system.

We know that some parishioners have received their emails and are beginning to set up Realm accounts.

LIFT EV'RY VOICE AND SING!
Praise and Worship to Revitalize the Church

The Union of Black Episcopalians will host a Virtual Churchwide Revival which promises to scoop up the whole Episcopal Church and transport it into a new era of restoration and revitalization.

Scheduled for July 27 to 30, 2021, the event’s theme is: “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing.”

For four nights, led by Black Episcopalians, the Episcopal Church will sing and praise the Lord asking God to “Revive Us Again”, to fill us with “Faith” and “Hope” and to walk with us into a bright, gleaming future, as we “Face the Rising Sun.”

These worship services promise lively, foot-stomping music and stirring messages by:
  • The Rt. Rev. Michael Bruce Curry, presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church
  • The Rev. Otis Moss, III, pastor of Chicago’s famed Trinity United Church of Christ
  • The Rt. Rev. Shannon MacVean-Brown, Episcopal Diocese of Vermont, and
  • The Rev. Naomi Washington Leapheart, Fellowship of Affirming Ministries, Philadelphia.

You Should Come and Share the Joy. Come and be revived!
Registration Link Here.
Worship Ministries. Volunteers Needed!

As we move forward and gather for future services, please keep in mind all the Worship Ministries that help to create such wonderful services here at Trinity Church.

We are looking for volunteers for our Altar Guild, Usher and Flower Ministries. No previous experience is needed. If you would like more information, please contact Barbara Roos in the office and she will connect you with the ministry leader.

Annual Backpack Ministry!

Trinity's participation in Covenant to Care’s annual back-to-school backpack program for Hartford children needing school supplies is beginning! You can fill a backpack with new school supplies for elementary children in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and grades 1 and 2.

Here are the details:

Backpacks which will fit younger children should be 11-14 inches in height, with gender neutral designs please.

The following list contains suggested items for the backpack. Please do not feel that you must purchase every item:

  • Crayons
  • washable markers
  • pencils
  • small pencil sharpener
  • eraser
  • glue stick
  • zipper bag for pencils etc.
  • 12" ruler
  • composition or wide ruled notebook
  • small pack of construction paper
Sheets with the printed list will be available for you to pick up in the church. If you find that the cost of filling a backpack is too high, consider teaming up with another Trinity member to share the cost.

Please return the filled backpack with the list attached, indicating which items are included, to the Baptistery on Sunday mornings, or to the office (M-Th; 9 am to 3 pm) by August 8th . The backpacks will be blessed that day and given to the representative from Covenant to Care who will be worshiping with us that Sunday.

Trinity has generously supported the Adopt-A-Social-Worker program of Covenant to Care over many years, and hopefully many of us can again! Feel free to contact me with any questions, and thank you!

A/V Guild

After taking a step back from recruitment to continue to refine the system, we are once again seeking volunteers to be a part of the A/V Guild. Don’t worry about your level of technical skill. If you can press a button on a remote control, then there’s a place for you on the team. If you would like more information, would like to volunteer, or would like to come watch the a/v guild at work on a Sunday to get a sense of what they do, please be in touch with Jake Troiano or Casey Rosseau.

Please email office@trinityhartford.org or call 860-527-8133 ext. 204 and Barbara Roos will provide contact information for Casey and Jake.

Trinity Book Group

For its next gathering, which will be in September, Trinity's Book Group has chosen The Story of More: How We Got to Climate Change and Where to Go from Here by Hope Jahren. In concise, highly readable chapters, the author takes us through the science behind the key inventions—from electric power to large-scale farming to automobiles—that, even as they help us, release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere like never before. She explains the current and projected consequences of global warming and the actions that we all can take to fight back. All are welcome to attend this meeting, which will be September 24th, 7 pm, which is expected to be in-person! Location TBA.

Sunday, 18 July 2021, at Trinity Church.
