Rising Up From Poverty Together

Uplift People of Elk Grove helps families and individuals create more abundant lives. We are a comprehensive, holistic program designed to break the cycle of poverty by building well-being together: rethinking poverty, re-framing solutions and reshaping our community. Through education and intentional relationships, we can restore abundance for families and individuals and bridge the cultural and socioeconomic class lines that often divide us.  We call our participants "Champions" because it takes a brave and motivated person to go outside of their comfort zone, reach out to strangers and commit to a 3 year program in hopes of creating change in their lives.

What Have Our Champion's Achieved Over The Past Year?

12 of Champions are now in permanent housing. One Champion has enrolled in college One Champion has obtained a working vehicle who had no previous transportation 3 Champions now have a job who were previously unemployed One Youth Champion who was struggling with school is now on the road to graduate with his class in 2020 One Youth Champion who struggled with low self-esteem and social interaction challenges is now thriving, doing well in school and participating in after school programs. One Champion has opened her own house cleaning business and obtained 2 business licenses. First time in her life that she has had career options. One Champion has begun focusing on her health and has seen great reductions in her insulin levels. Doctors are able to reduce or eliminate some of her medications. One Youth Champion was struggling with addiction, truancy and rebellion at home. Teen is now off drugs, is 6 months ahead of home schooling program, working a part time job and connected to family and friends. One Champion has a better jobs with more responsibility and on the track for management responsibilities. One Champion has received additional employment to help offset financial struggles. Two Champions are working with non-profits helping to serve others.

We are searching for passionate individuals to join our team of hard working volunteers. Uplift is in need of volunteers to help with marketing, social media, fundraising, event planning and basic administration support.
