Staying warm in November
For those unable to attend Firm Recognition Night, it was so heartwarming to see a room full of people! We had 42 in attendance and I have to say, the bidding and the donations were flying fast and furious. We took in as much as we do for a “normal” year with at least 10-15 more members and 75 in attendance. It was an amazing evening. Many thanks to Trenlan for leading the charge and her committee for putting together an excellent silent auction and superb event.
Recently I attended a professional development conference that featured Allyson Felix. She is the most decorated Track & Field Olympian in history. After participating in 5 Olympic games, Allyson has found passions off the track which she believes are her true calling. She is truly an inspirational speaker. She shared:
- It’s OK to not be OK, some days.
- Keep speaking up…even when your voice shakes
- The end goal may be important, but don’t forget the little moments along the way. Embrace the journey.
- Choose joy…always.
- We are all enough.
- Give grace to yourself and others
- Dig deep
The positive reinforcements kept rolling in as I received a gratitude card from one vendor that said “I am totally adequate for all situations.” Another vendor had a sign at her table: Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. I also had the pleasure of seeing Claire Becker in-person! She spoke to us (virtually) last year about transformational transitions! I don’t usually enjoy these big luncheons very much, but I have to say, I left that conference feeling motivated and excited to bring back to you these messages.
A couple housekeeping announcements:
- Toys for Tots meeting is coming up on Tuesday, December 7 at Onesto. Bring your toys to the meeting or order on-line and have them shipped. Invitations coming soon!
- Please mark your calendars! Due to holidays:
- the January meeting is being moved to Tuesday, January 11.
- the July meeting is moved to Tuesday, July 12.
Stay warm everyone! I think it’s time to get your winter coats out!
