In a virtual seminar, experts from Penn, Cornell, and Drexel discussed the long history and significant health consequences of structural racism for individuals, families, and communities of color. 
A new study led by Austin Kilaru in Academic Emergency Medicine finds that nearly 5% of COVID-19 patients discharged from the emergency department returned within 72 hours and needed admission to the hospital.
In the Journal of General Internal Medicine, Karen Lasater and a team from Penn’s Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research demonstrate that investment in hospital nursing produces better patient outcomes at no higher cost, with the greatest benefits for high-risk and seriously ill patients.
