Your weekly news & updates
Hats off to those who serve!
Now roll up your sleeves to volunteer and get a flu shot!
Today is a good day to thank our public servants and those who have run for office recently. We really do appreciate that you are willing to throw your hat in the ring for our community.
So our congratulations to the newly elected or re-elected officials and our gratitude to all who ran.
Next week, of course, is the day set aside by our nation to honor and thank those who have served in our military services.
Because of them, we get to safely vote and live freely.
Veterans Day Breakfast
And there are so many ways you can celebrate!!!
Click on the Veteran's Day flag image or here to learn more about the
American Legion's annual Veteran's Day breakfast. All military veterans are welcome to breakfast and the rest of us are welcome to volunteer and serve them back.
Beer Run & Veterans Celebration
In addition, you can support the local American Legion post by participating in this year's beer run next Saturday (click on that image or here for more information) and you can enjo an evening of gratitude and fireworks. Learn more about THAT by clicking here.
And you might think that is everything going on next weekend here in Taylor, but you would be wrong!
Second Saturday Shopping
Get your holiday shopping done, enjoy a cold beer/wine, support local businesses and stay socially distant in historic downtown Taylor.
We have two dozen local businesses downtown, and you're allowed to have an open container while you walk and shop. So you can stay socially distant, spread out across downtown, get your holiday shopping done and enjoy a great small town Texas experience!
As an extra bonus, if you shop local at any downtown Taylor business and bring a receipt, Texas Beer Co will provide you a free beer. We'll also have a raffle at the TBC taproom to help promote our downtown neighbors. Thanks for shopping local!
Get a flu shot.
Call your healthcare provider, stop by a local, chain or store pharmacy or get a free one through the Williamson County and Cities Health District. (Click HERE to register.) Encourage your friends and family to get a flu shot. Click here for information on the safety and efficacy of the vaccine.
Congratulations to Andre Seawood and his family on their arrival in Taylor. And their happy news is our good fortune as they bring with them their second location of Cookies, Cupcakes and More to 211 N. Main St. Stop by for a delightful treat and to talk to them about ordering desserts for the holidays or any special occasion. You can reach the by phone at 512-595-5474 or find them online at www.cookiesandcupcakesandmore.com.
