Tune In to the State of the City in February
The 2022 State of the City will premiere this February (exact date to be announced) on Facebook and YouTube, and will be followed by a Town Hall Q&A. Check back on the State of the City webpage for details as they are announced.
Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
Join the City in commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 17 with:

  • Unity March | 10am - MLK Jr. Memorial to Mizner Park
  • Ceremony | 11am-12pm - Mizner Park Amphitheater (East Lot)
  • Unity Carnival | 12pm-2pm - Mizner Park Amphitheater (East Lot)

Boca Raton Named a Bike Friendly Community
The City was awarded a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community Award by The League of American Bicyclists. Each year, The League assesses all 50 states. Communities, businesses, and universities are assessed through a voluntary application process, and award status lasts for four years. Coronavirus Relief Funds Available for City Residents
The City received additional Community Development Block Grant coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for City homeowners and renters who have experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19.

Applications are still being accepted and will be processed on a first come, first qualified, first served basis. Visit the Rental and Foreclosures Programs webpage for guidelines, qualifications, and to apply.
COVID-19: Testing and Vaccine/Booster Sites
As COVID-19 cases increase in our area, please take necessary precautions to stay safe and healthy. There are several local facilities offering COVID-19 testing and vaccine and booster shots, with and without appointments:


The City continues to monitor the information and messaging coming from the Florida Department of Health (FDOH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State of Florida Governor's Office about COVID-19.

Brightline Parking Garage Construction Begins
Brightline has commenced construction of the new Brightline/Downtown Library Parking Garage for its future Boca Raton station. The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022. For pictures and updates visit the City's website.
City Council Chooses Artist Gregory Dirr for Recycled Material Art Project
A design concept for the City’s Recycled Material Art Project was selected at the December 14, 2021 City Council meeting. Local artist Gregory Dirr has been selected to create the artwork. Gregory’s proposed design, titled REcycled REef, will feature an oversized coral reef, with a contemporary spin. 

The project aims to educate the community about the harmful effects of pollution and plastics on marine life and inspire sustainable actions through an aesthetically pleasing artistic creation. The project is estimated to be completed by March 1, 2022. Learn more on the Art in Public Places webpage.

  • City offices closed and no sanitation service Monday, Jan. 17.
  • Monday, Jan. 17 collection will be a day LATER on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 18 collection will be a day LATER on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

New fire chief Treanor
Congrats to New Fire Chief Treanor
Serving the Boca Raton Fire Rescue Department since January 1995, Chief John Treanor was promoted through the ranks and served as a Firefighter, Driver, Captain, EMS Captain, Division Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief before he was appointed to Fire Chief. He is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer program and was also an Assistant Professor/Department Chair of Emergency Medical Services, training paramedics throughout the County.

Pickleball Takes Over Boca Raton January 18-23

Earn an Accredited High School Diploma and Job Training Through Career Online High School
The Boca Raton Public Library is offering scholarships to adults for Career Online High School. Adults 19 and older can earn an accredited high school diploma and certificate in their chosen career path, plus develop a resume and other tools to start or advance their careers. Sustainability Corner
Volunteers Needed for Dune Restoration
10-12 hardy volunteers are needed to assist with restoring dune habitat at Red Reef Park on Saturday, January 29 from 9am-12pm. Volunteers will be cutting back and removing invasive shrubs, digging and preparing holes, and planting and watering native plants and grasses to help maintain and stabilize a natural dune ecosystem. Make Your Christmas Tree the Gift that Keeps on Giving
Residents can drop off CLEAN holiday trees at Spanish River Athletic Park / Countess de Hoernle Park (1000 Spanish River Blvd.), from December 26, 2021 - January 16, 2022 to help beautify Gumbo Limbo Nature Center with new mulch.

The drop-off area is located at the southern end of the parking lot next to the maintenance area. Visit the Holiday Tree Recycling Webpage or call 561-393-7810 for more information. Make sure to remove all decorations including lights and tinsel from the tree.
