According to an article published by WalletHub, a personal finance website based in Washington, D.C., Garland ranks as one of the nation's best cities to drive in. We placed ninth in a list of the 100 largest cities around the United States.
WalletHub's methodology included comparing a sample of the 100 most populated U.S. cities across four key dimensions: 1) Cost of Ownership & Maintenance, 2) Traffic & Infrastructure, 3) Safety and 4) Access to Vehicles & Maintenance.
They evaluated those dimensions using 30 relevant metrics with each metric graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for drivers. Finally, they determined each city’s weighted average across all metrics to calculate its overall score and used the resulting scores to rank-order the cities. The information was made available Oct. 11, 2022.
We are very proud to have made the list. This showcases the efforts the City of Garland makes to fulfill our mission to provide high-quality service to our residents. We have many ongoing and upcoming road projects to help facilitate your drive throughout our city. As always, we appreciate your patience!
