Gather your art supplies. Inspired by the work of Theaster Gates, we're challenging you to reimagine your neighborhood. Grab abstract objects from around your house to map out what your dream community looks like in a 3D model.

What spaces make up a community? Think about the places that support your community and add creative spaces of your own! Where do people gather? Where do they have fun? Where do people eat? Where do they share resources? Your ability to get creative reimagining community can spark change in your own neighborhood.

Community Connection
We Got Us
Communities connected. Theaster Gates' work centers around using creative solutions to keep communities connected. Chicago based collective, We Got Us, is doing just that. As a community, organizations have banded together to provide critical supplies like PPE, food, tutoring, mental health services, and more to Chicago's South and West Side neighborhoods most impacted by COVID19. Read more about their work here.

Get food. If you are in need of food TODAY, there is a West Side food pop up at Greater St. John Bible Church at 1256 N Waller Ave from 11AM - 4PM.

Give what you can. If you're out grocery shopping for your own family, consider picking up some extra items to donate. We Got Us is accepting donations of nonperishable food and snacks, hygiene and menstrual supplies, diapers and other baby care items at the same location pop up location.
