Community Collaboration: May 15 Update

Northbrook Park District Facility Updates

Select Tennis and Pickleball Courts Now Open
Select Northbrook Park District tennis and pickleball courts are now open. Only singles play and private lessons will be allowed to ensure the continuation of physical distancing of at least six feet from others. Some courts will be available to the community for free walk-on play and others will be available for paid rentals. To ensure a safe recreation opportunity for all, use of the courts will follow several rules and restrictions following guidance from the State of Illinois, the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the Village of Northbrook, and the USTA. For available court locations, rules and rental procedures, visit the tennis courts page. Safety rules and rental information are also posted at all court locations.

Anetsberger Golf Course Opened May 1
The par-3 Anetsberger Golf Course located in Techny Prairie Parks and Fields at 1750 Techny Road is now open for play by twosomes with reservations. For more information on memberships, fees and tee times, visit anetsbergergolf.com

Outdoor Pools
Due to the many uncertainties surrounding the current Covid-19 pandemic and to comply with the guidelines provided by the CDC, the State of Illinois, and the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Northbrook Park District has made the difficult decision to keep both Northbrook Sports Center Pool and Meadowhill Aquatic Center closed for the 2020 season.  For more information, visit nbparks.org.

The organizations of the Glenview-Northbrook Coronavirus Task Force continue to coordinate and share resources in addressing the present situation in our community. We also are looking ahead in our collaborative approach to developing plans that will allow us to safely and confidently reopen our community as we move through the phases of Restore Illinois

Updates from Park Districts
Both the Glenview and Northbrook Park Districts report that the reopening of their golf facilities with COVID-19 restrictions has been safe and smooth. In Northbrook, Anetsberger Golf Course is open; in Glenview, the Glenview Park Golf Club is open, and the Glenview Prairie Club opened today for golf only (platform tennis remains closed at this time).

Both park districts have plans in place to open tennis and pickleball courts in the next week. Please check their websites ( Northbrook and Glenview) for new guidelines on where to play and how to play safely.

Update From NorthShore University HealthSystem
NorthShore University HealthSystem reported a drop in the overall number of COVID-19-positive hospitalized patients, as well as a decrease in ICU patients and those on ventilators. However, the rate of positive COVID-19 tests, at just under 28% of those tested, is up slightly from last week.

As a reminder, if you or a family member show COVID-19 symptoms ( listed on our website) you should:
  • Call 847-HEALTH9 (847-432-5849) and talk to a NorthShore clinical expert; or
  • Log onto NorthShoreConnect through the app on your mobile device or on the website ( www.northshoreconnect.org/immediatecare).
Community Needs
The Northfield Township Food Pantry continues to see an increase in need. Their website includes information on how to apply for Food Pantry assistance, and how to make donations.
