Auld Lang Syne
Michael Silva is helping us ring in the new year with the classic tune "Auld Lang Syne." It is a popular song traditionally sung to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Veterans In Arts
The following is a testimonial from a recent enrollee in Guitars4Vets (Names removed to protect privacy):

I graduated from the Guitar4Vets program at the Concord Vet Center in December 2018. I was fortunate in that I was able to participate in unofficial instruction and practice what I did know with a couple of Vet Center groups: Concord and Martinez. I started learning how play chords. And the bug hit me: I really wanted to learn how to play the instrument well.

When I heard about your program, offering graduates of the Guitar4Vets program an opportunity to formally continue learning the guitar, I jumped at the chance.

I was looking to learn only one thing and that was how to finger-pick the strings. I asked to be teamed with a local instructor because he mentioned fingerpicking in his bio.

Well, I couldn't be more fortunate than to have him as my instructor. The man is so well trained in the guitar (and other instruments), he is extremely professional, very relaxed and extremely patient. I'm on my second set of 10 lessons with him. And in that time, I have learned to play what I thought I knew in more than one way and better. I have also learned that I have a long way to go because there are many things I don't know. But the things I am very grateful to him for are the following: learn to relax; continually practice the basics; practice all that I learn; build up my speed; and gain my self-confidence. I have such respect for his talent and for him as a person that I hate not being prepared when I meet with him for a lesson. He is a class act.
