The Fifth Sunday of Easter
Online Service: 9:30 a.m.
From the Rector: All Hands Needed!
Dear friends,

We’re midway through the Easter season, and our Task Force on Regathering has been at work planning for our return to in-person services at Pentecost. Now we need your help!
We are anticipating that as of Sunday, May 23, we will be going to a two-service schedule each week:

  • A simple 8:00 a.m. service in the church, without music; and
  • A 10:00 a.m. service in the central courtyard, with music, with extra seating in Farlander Hall. This service will also be livestreamed on Zoom and Facebook. Note that this will be a change from the 9:30 time we’ve been using.

There are many volunteer tasks that will go into making these services happen. Most are in-person, but some can be done from home, via Zoom. Because of our ongoing COVID-19 precautions, many tasks have to be done in new ways. We need as many people to help out as possible.

Will you help by clicking the button below to sign up for the roles you’d be willing to help with? No experience is needed—training is available for all of them.
It’s exciting to have this opportunity to come back together in a new way. Thank you for pitching in so we can make our regathering process a reality.

In Christ’s love,
Coming Right Up...
An Easter season Alleluia!
Last year, in the grip of a worldwide pandemic and economic hardship for so many, the vestry worried about needing to raise money- even delaying the roof project by a year, making do with a warranted patch.

When I heard this week that the donations to the roof/solar project have reached $127,000, my first thought was an Easter season Alleluia… and then, We are surely a community that loves and respects God’s creation! We are a community that embraces the change that we want to see.

Hopefulness is surely a quality that God cherishes in his church, and thanks to those who have already so generously donated, this fundraising response showers optimism and hope on us all. Our goal is $200,000. If you haven’t yet had a chance to consider joining this effort, please review the pamphlet that you received in the mail recently, or visit IncarnationGoesGreen.org . We greatly appreciate every donation in any amount. Every donor will be honored with a solar panel plaque with his/her name, or named designee, in Farlander Hall.
We are blessed to have not only resources in these difficult times, but also to be among those whose generous hearts embrace preservation of our beautiful earth.

Accidental Saints by Nadia Bolz-Weber - Come join us!
The Incarnation Book Group continues to meet on the Third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm via Zoom. Please join us in reading Accidental Saints: Finding God In All the Wrong People, by Nadia Bolz-Weber.

"In Accidental Saints, New York Times best-selling author Nadia Bolz-Weber invites readers into a surprising encounter with what she calls “a religious but not-so-spiritual life.” Tattooed, angry and profane, this former standup comic turned pastor stubbornly, sometimes hilariously, resists the God she feels called to serve. But God keeps showing up in the least likely of people—a church-loving agnostic, a drag queen, a felonious Bishop and a gun-toting member of the NRA.
In a time when many have rightly become disillusioned with Christianity, Accidental Saints demonstrates what happens when ordinary people share bread and wine, struggle with scripture together, and tell each other the truth about their real lives. This unforgettable account of their faltering steps toward wholeness will ring true for believer and skeptic alike.
Told in Nadia’s trademark confessional style, Accidental Saints is the stunning next work from one of today’s most important religious voices". - Goodreads

Evensong for Ascension Day
The Feast of the Ascension, a principal feast day of the church year, falls 40 days after Easter Sunday and commemorates Jesus’ ascension into heaven after the initial period of appearances to his disciples following the resurrection. It marks the transition into the last ten days of Easter Season, sometimes called Ascensiontide, when we look with anticipation toward the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. We’ll celebrate the Ascension this year with an online service of Evensong on Zoom at 7:00 p.m. Use our usual link for Online Services (see above). All are welcome.
Becoming Beloved Community - Sacred Ground Circles
For the Episcopal Church, Becoming Beloved Community is a vision for a community where we grow in our love of God, our neighbors and creation. A labyrinth with four quadrants has been developed to illustrate the journey toward Becoming Beloved Community.

Sacred Ground Circles: This is a 10-part discussion about race, grounded in faith. Participants are invited to view selected videos and read books and articles about Indigenous, Black, Latino and Asian/Pacific American histories and how they intersect with European-American accounts. The materials also examine the church’s evolving teachings on race relations.

Please contact one of the leaders if you’d like to participate. See links below.
There will be two Sacred Ground opportunities hosted online:

  • May 10 – July 26 (skipping May 31st and July 5th) Monday evenings at 6 p.m. hosted by Paul Mallatt ([email protected]) from Incarnation, Santa Rosa, and Deacon Kate Sefton ([email protected]) from St. Stephen’s, Sebastopol.

  • May 13 – July 15th Thursdays 1p.m. to 3 p.m., hosted by social justice advocate Bob Wohlsen ([email protected]) and Spiritual Director/educator Sharron Simpson ([email protected]).
In Memoriam: Doug Cannedy
We recently learned that former parishioner Doug Cannedy died last month shortly after a diagnosis of late-stage cancer. Please remember Doug, his brother Bill, and their family and friends in your prayers. A small private memorial service was held with family. Cards may be sent to Bill Cannedy at 1121 Ludwig Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95407.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Doug. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your
own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.
