Dear Brookfield Academy Families,
As we near the end of this school year, we are already preparing for the next school year! As you know, there will be changes; and each one will help Brookfield Academy continue to be an outstanding school devoted to its Mission and to its students.
The following is a brief summary of a few new positions and responsibilities. Brookfield Academy is blessed with talented, smart, and eager professionals who are committed to serving our students with passion and dedication.
Admissions Office
Mrs. Joan Doble will become Director of Admissions. Joan has been an integral part of the Middle School since 1998, recently serving as Assistant Head and Head. She is an accomplished administrator and thus was tapped to fill the important position of Director of Admissions. Joan will certainly be missed by the students and faculty of the Middle School; however, in her new role, she will open our doors to many future BA students and their families.
Mrs. Mindy Morrissey will also join the Admissions Office as our new Assistant Director of Admissions. Mrs. Morrissey has been inspiring and teaching our Primary School and Lower School students since 2010. She is eager to share her knowledge of these Divisions with new families and students.
Middle School
Dr. Mark Bullio will become Head of the Middle School. Mark came to BA in 2013. He has been an important part of our Upper School faculty where his insightful teaching has been a valued component of our History Department. Most recently, as the Upper School Dean of Students, Mark has guided students to grow and learn. He will bring this experience into the Middle School; expect to find him spending most of his time in the hallways with students!
Primary and Lower Schools
Ms. Tanya Schwartz will become the Assistant Head of the Primary and Lower Schools. Ms. Schwartz has been skillfully and compassionately teaching in our Lower School since 2013 where she has garnered a deep understanding of our curriculum. She is eager to join the administrative team and guide our youngest students as they navigate their earliest years at Brookfield Academy.
Upper School
In the fall, Mrs. Jesse̒e Tomchek will become the Upper School Dean of Students. She joined our school family in 2017 and has served diligently and thoughtfully guiding our students as Academic Resource Coordinator. Mrs. Tomchek is devoted to the task of helping all students reach their personal goals, and she is eager to help enhance all aspects of their BA experience.
Congratulations to these outstanding Brookfield Academy administrators. The energy they will bring to their new positions will make our school even more successful. We appreciate their loyalty and dedication to our students and to our Mission.
Sharon Koenings
Head of School

Dinner Auction 2021
Wow! Thank you to all who participated in Brookfield Academy’s Auction this past Saturday. There was a special energy and enthusiasm that filled the building, not to mention some fantastic 80’s outfits! Check out all the fun photos HERE. Our final numbers are not in at this point, but your participation in the Raise the Paddle, Silent Auction, and Live Auction raised more than $110,000 in donations and bids. We are truly grateful to our sponsors, underwriters, and the entire BA community.
Hats off to Sarah Slaughter for her creativity and perseverance in running this year’s Dinner Auction. Sarah and her team worked incredibly hard to make this event a huge success. We all pulled together, as a BA family would in tough times, to rally behind our students and school to recognize them for all their hard work over the past year.
Congratulations to our raffle winners: Bernice Boucher, winner of the $5000 grand prize; Joseph Anderer and Janice Shoman, winners of the $1500 cash prize; and George and Cynthia Kanavas, winners of the $500 cash prize. Congratulations to all!
If you are an Auction item winner and would like to pick up your item(s), you may stop at Founders Hall to collect your winnings beginning Thursday, April 29. Credit card purchases from the Auction will be processed by Friday, May 7. Email the Advancement Office with the date and time you will pick up your items, and we will meet you outside the building.
