Congregational Engagement Process 2022
Next Steps
|
|
During the summer months, congregations were invited to reflect upon a series of questions provided by Vitality in Ministry Committee (VIM), as to where God is at work in their ministries and what they are learning about themselves through the challenges and changes brought about by the pandemic. Many thanks to those who responded to this request (listed below).
The responses from congregations are now being reviewed and compiled by members of Vitality in Ministry. The information gleaned will be used to guide programmatic and financial priorities to help churches and clergy thrive.
Thanks to the Fund Redistribution Task Force and Budget and Finance Committee who will be using this information as they prepare the upcoming 2023 budget and explore how best to use presbytery financial reserves in these challenge, yet, promising times.
Across our presbytery innovative, compassionate and faithful ministry and mission is taking place. Together, we share a vision as disciples of Jesus Christ, called to:
Gather in Love
Equip to Serve
Inspire Transformation
May we continue to live into this vision and find meaningful ways to engage each other and our neighbors as we strengthen our capacity as the body of Christ, embodying these gospel values:
bold witness, hospitality, radical love, spiritual growth, community, outreach, justice and equity
Thanks to the following congregations for responding to the Congregational Engagement Questions:
Capitol Korean Presbyterian Church, Carmichael, Celtic Cross, El Dorado Federated, First Pres. Colusa, First Pres. Marysville, First Pres. Tracy, First Pres Stockton, Grace Lodi, Northminster, Parkview, Peace, Trinity Oroville, Trinity West Sac., Walnut Grove, Westminster, and Woodland

How You Can Help Mosquito Fire Evacuees
|
|
Over 11, 000 people were evacuated last week from the Mosquito fire near Foresthill, CA. Over 200 displaced people (and pets) by the fire have taken refuge in the cafeteria and parking lot at Sierra College in Rocklin, CA over 2 hours away from their homes.
People fled fire in a hurry so have minimal belongings therefore the needs are great.
Our Shepherd of the Sierra Presbyterian Church members are delivering food and essentials to Sierra College daily.
Recovering from the destruction of fire is a long process for displaced families. In tragic times we tend to see the best of humanity…People helping people and giving a hand up.
You can help!
If you are interested in sending a monetary donation to support our Mosquito Fire Relief efforts, please send a check made out to:

GKI Indonesian Fellowship Celebrates 20th Anniversary
|
|
Accompanied by music, dance, worship and delicious food, members and friends of GKI recently gathered for a joyous celebrate of the congregation’s 20th Anniversary.
This growing Indonesian congregation previously met at Parkview Presbyterian Church until the pandemic disrupted their capacity to gather in-person.
Now in their new location, Celtic Cross Presbyterian Church, they continue to attract new members and engage in meaningful ministry and mission.
Their pastor, Rev. Deetje Tiwa, will retire the end of this year and our prayers are with her and with GKI members as they move into a season of transition.
Congratulation!
Pictured is the choir, a dance group, Rino Tiwa who is a candidate preparing for ministry within our presbytery, and Pastor Bob Yule receiving
a gift for his support and that of the Celtic Cross congregation in opening their doors and sharing their building with this dedicated congregation.
