From Your PTSA President

Welcome back to all our RHS Families, Students, and Staff!

I hope you all had a smooth transition back to school last week. I know it was a whirlwind for all of us. We greatly appreciate the patience, resiliency, and grace we’ve shown to our teachers and staff, our students, our families, and each other during this transition back to a “normal” school year. It’s a big adjustment that we all are navigating, but I promise, we’ll be pros in no time!

I want to extend a huge thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make Picture Day and the Laptop Distribution Days a success. The help of our volunteers made these days run smoothly.

I also want to share that we already have over 250 PTSA members so far, and we’re only a week into the school year! That is truly impressive and I’m so proud to serve such a dedicated community. For those who haven’t joined yet, I want to remind you that membership is open to all, including parents, guardians, extended family members, students, staff (certificated and classified), and any interested member of the community. There is strength in numbers as we support our students through their high school education.  Membership enables the PTSA to provide grants to school staff and programs to enrich the students’ experiences, award scholarships to seniors, host and/or contribute to the Homecoming Dance and other ASB events, provide low-cost SAT/ACT practice testing, provide staff appreciation events, and support events to celebrate seniors, among many other things.

The cost of membership is $20 for the first household member, $12 dollars for each additional household member, and $12 for students and staff. To join, please go to Back to School (redmondhsptsa.org). I also want to remind everyone that the PTSA offers subsidies to those who want to join but cannot afford to do so. To request a subsidy, please email treasurer@redmondhsptsa.org. Felice Nightengale will be happy to assist.

Finally, I’d like to encourage anyone who would like to become involved in the PTSA to reach out to me or volunteers@redmondhsptsa.org. We have two Board positions available (VP of FACE and VP of Membership), as well as several vacant Committee Chairs and open Volunteer positions. Vacant positions can be found at Board Directory (redmondhsptsa.org).

I hope you have a wonderful second week of school. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me and I’ll try to assist in any way I can.

PTSA NEWS

Legislative Assembly Delegates Needed

Your RHS PTSA is seeking member delegates to attend the 44th Annual Legislative Assembly on October 15-16. This event is hybrid, so you can attend in person in Bellevue or from the comfort of your own home. This year, delegates will be voting on the two-year legislative platform to be put forward by Washington State PTA. To volunteer, contact Branda Andrade at president@redmondhsptsa.org. Learn more at this website. Student voting members are welcome to delegate too.

Support Students Through RHS PTSA

Thank you to everyone who has contributed their time and/or money to RHS PTSA so far this year. We're 1/4 of the way toward our annual fundraising goal for the Pass the Hat Campaign. With your support we will be able to continue to support educational classroom and school improvement items. We also participate in a number of matching and charitable giving programs. Find us under Redmond High School PTSA for many employer-match dollar and volunteer-hour programs.

Save The Date - Registration Opening Soon

Redmond PTSA has partnered with The Princeton Review to provide the opportunity for students to take a “just for practice” ACT and/or SAT test. The dates are tentative and more information on how to sign up will follow once the dates have been confirmed.

These full-length practice tests, administered by The Princeton Review, offer students the opportunity to practice test taking strategies and determine baseline scores prior to taking the official SAT and ACT college entrance exams. Tests results are provided back to the students in the form of a detailed Score Report that identifies individual strengths and areas for improvement. Scores are not reported to anyone other than the student. Students can sign up either for fall or Spring to take these tests.
