Greetings!
Daily Check in! How are you doing? We hope today has been peaceful.
During our yoga classes, we research the perfect playlist to help facilitate peacefulness and create a sense of calm for our members.
Being a trauma focused yoga studio, we work tirelessly to create a safe environment. So that people move and meditate, letting them melt their stressors away.
My heart aches for the people we see in therapy and in our yoga classes. We work with frontline
personnel
, homeschooling parents, grocery store workers, therapists, healthcare professionals, teachers, seniors in high school and college and many, many more.
All of these people are working through unimaginable grief. I love that they can meet us online, lay on their mat, in their pajamas (or whatever they want to wear that day) and we can work through this collective trauma together.
So when it came time to look for a playlist, I wanted to find research based calming music.
After careful studies, the song produced 65 percent reduction in participants' overall anxiety, and a 35 percent reduction in their usual physiological resting rates.
Talk about amazing! What is even more amazing is that this song was produced in collaboration with music therapists to create this sense of calm. The harmonies, bass lines and rhythms
help slow a person's heart rate, reduce blood pressure and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
To weather this storm of coronavirus we need to give our bodies a rest and music and yoga is one pathway.
Please take care of yourselves,
Kris
PS. If you want to help yourself alleviate some stress and anxiety, join us on Sunday April 26 at 12:00 pm for a Coronavirus Stress and Anxiety Relief Workshop. We look forward to seeing you there!
