ECHOES: Landscape, Streetscape, Dreamscape
featuring the work of Mark J Curran.
Metaphor is the imagination at work. As William Blake wrote:  "Imagination is the real and eternal world of which this universe is but a faint shadow. What is now proved was once only imagined." My photography-based digital art attempts to explore this idea.
I plan to show works arranged in pairs that are intended to elicit resonances in the viewer, creating a slightly relaxed, dreamlike state conducive to imagining likenesses and stories. . . .  Show runs July 5 through August 14.    (more)

Classics Book Discussion:
A Man in Full by Tom Wolfe
At John's suggestion, we'll give ourselves the summer to read the recently deceased Tom Wolfe's A Man In Full. When it came out in 1998, Michiko Kakutani's N Y Times review was headlined, "Wolfe Turns 'Bonfire' Upside Down." She called it "a big if qualified leap forward for Wolfe as a novelist...[with] characters who bear more of a resemblance to real, sympathetic human beings, and Wolfe's novelistic canvas has expanded persuasively to include not merely the powerful and rich but also the poor and middle class."  (more info)
