Upcoming Required Parent Meetings
High School Parents Round Table Discussion: Marijuana
Parents of all 9th - 11th grade students are required to come and be a part of the conversation at DECA High as we discuss the impact and effects of marijuana on our youth.

We will start all together for a quick 15 minute "graduation requirements" session, then break into small groups to have our round table conversations.

We have seen a concerning increase in students using marijuana, and we need your help to ensure our young men and women are making safe decisions when it comes to drugs.

If you're a DECA High parent, we looking forward to seeing you or someone to represent you at the meeting on
October 27 from 6 pm - 7 pm @ High
PREP CPC Meeting Topic: Behavior
We will have our next CPC (Classroom, Parent Community) meeting at DECA PREP on Thursday, October 20 from 6 pm-7 pm. We will begin in the gym to discuss the structure for CPCs, behavior concerns we have seen within the school, and what our plan will be going forward.

From the gym, parents will go to their student's classroom to begin their community building within each class.
If you're a DECA PREP parent, we look forward to seeing you or someone to represent you at the meeting on October 20 from 6pm - 7pm at PREP.
District Wide Upcoming Events
DECA's Biannual Blood Drive

On Wednesday, November 9th DECA High will be hosting our Blood Drive from 9:30 am - 1:00 pm.

This year's goal is to get at least 45 participants. This number of donors would give a second chance to approximately 140 people and help save lives.

The best part is you can participate! We would love you to join us in this opportunity to give back to our community. To register and for more information please contact, Mrs. Martz at tmartz@daytonearlycollege.org
Market Day

The Youth Entrepreneurship Class has started research for their Market Day Projects. Market Day is where our Youth Entrepreneur students will showcase their businesses. This capstone allows students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills learned throughout the course and deepen their entrepreneurial way of thinking while earning funds in the process.

Join us for Market Day Thursday November 10th from 1:30-2:30 pm.

If you have any questions or would like more information please contact Ms. Peeks at mpeeks@daytonearlycollege.org
Three District Delights
The third grade Howard Bison were so excited to host their first Project Showcase for this school year! They celebrated all of their hard work on their Expert Country Informational Paragraphs.

Students had the opportunity to present their work to teachers, volunteers, and other staff.

They enjoyed some discussion time with small groups, created crafts from some of the countries they had studied, and enjoyed time with the rest of the hardworking third grade.
7th grade started this year with Black History as their “Special” for the 1st quarter.

As a capstone to their learning experience, the amazing Ms. Gilbert arranged a field trip for them to the Freedom Center in Cincinnati to bring it full circle and make their lessons come to life through such a great experience.

Check out a few of the photos above from their visit to the Queen City.
DECA High was proud to have our seniors be invited to the screening debut of the new movie “Till.”

After a challenging morning discussing their legacy at DECA and the compelling movie about Mamie Till and her bravery - our seniors participated in a Q&A with some of the cast and crew who were at the NY Film Festival talking with us remotely.

May we all remember the work we still have ahead of us and the bravery to always do what’s right!
Did Your Child Make Honor Roll?
With the end of the first quarter, we're excited to celebrate our highest achieving students. Be on the lookout for a few events celebrating our Honor Roll students. Keep your eye out on our social media to see if you catch your scholar being honored.
