CTA Members,
CTA has been alerted by a number of its members that some of their employees are refusing to report back to work and are continuing to apply for benefits even after being asked to report back to work. CTA recently made the Employee Development Department (EDD) aware of this issue within the trucking industry during its comments made at the recent EDD Small Business Advisory Committee meeting (CTA is a member of the SBAC).
Immediately following the meeting, CTA met with the EDD to discuss the issue further. In addition to the information that EDD provided, CTA is working with the EDD on scheduling a webinar for its members. As soon as its scheduled, CTA will send an alert to its members. In the meantime, if you are having employees refuse to report back to work and are continuing to file claims, feel free to use the information listed below. Also included in this alert is how to report a Fraudulent 1099 claim.
Refusal to Work:
In regards to reporting a refusal of work, employers have several methods to report a refusal to work. Employers can report a refusal of work through our “Ask EDD” webpage, by responding to the Notice of Unemployment Insurance Claim Filed DE 1101CZ or by responding to the Notice of Wages Used for Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim DE 1545. In regards to the DE 1101CZ, the employer can report the refusal to work by using the paper copy of the DE 1101CZ, or they can report through SIDES E-Response, if they are registered with SIDES. Included is a hyperlink to the “Ask EDD” webpage and a pictorial of the sub categories to select in order to report a refusal to work.
