Arts Enthusiast!
Who knows what the weather will bring in the coming days, with Hurricane Kay making her way up the Baja California coastline. Inclement weather or not, we do know that an abundance of amazing art opportunities abounds again this week in Coronado.
Head to Coronado Library on Friday, September 9 for an Autumn Concert Series performance featuring Adrienne Nims. This classically trained artist is a highly accomplished flutist and saxophonist who has performed opening acts for modern musical legends like Boz Scaggs, Joe Cocker, Don MacLean, and Steppenwolf. Then on Saturday, September 10 return to the library for the Spoilers Book Club discussion of “The Pursuit of Happyness” by Chris Gardner coupled with a viewing of the poignant film of this inspirational biography starring Will Smith with his son Jaden Smith as co-star.
In honor of Constitution Week, the Daughters of the American Revolution present Coronado City Councilmember Casey Tanaka speaking on the "Genius of the Constitution" on Tuesday, September 13. A graduate of Coronado High School and UC San Diego, former Mayor Tanaka is a beloved AP History teacher at CHS whose engaging instructional style has received accolades from students and parents for decades. Then on Thursday, September 15, Coronado Historical Association hosts another insightful Wine and Lecture event entitled “The Service Knows and Will Remember: The Airplane Crash Site Memorial on Japacha Ridge.”
