A Knight's Tale | November Newsletter
Dear North Side Community School Friends,

Over the past month our students have been happy to see extracurricular activities picking back up after being paused due to COVID-19 precautions. Our fourth grade students were able to go on their first field trip since the beginning of the pandemic, and were thrilled to visit the Saint Louis Zoo. Our middle schoolers had the opportunity to learn computer science skills from our partners at Create-a-Loop, and have completed interactive virtual reality projects. Our middle school students are also participating in the new charter school basketball league.

This month, North Side was also able to participate in Thinksgiving - an event hosted by Filament LLC that connects nonprofits with innovation partners to solve organizational challenges. Our staff enjoyed working with Purina.

The Holiday Season is here, and we have some exciting ways for you to support our students here at North Side Community School. You are invited to contribute a new, unwrapped gift for one of our students, and mail or deliver to the address below by December 3. You may also consider selecting North Side when you make your Giving Tuesday donation on November 30.

On behalf of our community of staff and students at North Side, we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We are SO thankful for friends and supporters like you, and the difference that you are creating in the lives of our students.

Sincerely,
John Grote
Executive Director
First Field Trip Since COVID!
Last week, our fourth graders were able to go on their first field trip since early the beginning of the pandemic!

They took a trip to the Saint Louis Zoo to study what they are learning in science class in real life. Students studied the internal and external structures of animals by visiting various exhibits at the zoo.

Everyone had a great time and learned a lot!
Create-a-Loop Virtual Reality Program
Our partners at Create-a-Loop have been working with our middle school students to code and create interactive virtual reality projects. This project is not only interesting and engaging for our students, but is teaching them valuable computer science skills that they will be able to build upon in the future.

Create-a-Loop is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing rigorous and ambitious computer science instruction to students in the Saint Louis Metropolitan area. They work to equip students with advanced computer programming skills and open avenues to rewarding careers with meaningful salaries. We are excited for our students to have the opportunity to learn these valuable skills!
Thinksgiving
North Side Community School is pleased to have been selected to participate in Thinksgiving 2021 as a Mission Advocate. Thinksgiving is an event hosted by Filament LLC that pairs nonprofits with Innovation partners to solve a non-monetary challenge. Our team worked with Purina and shared our work at the Showcase on November 18th.
