Embrace the Surreal With The Underground This Weekend!
Director and performer Marcos Duran embraces an experimental attitude toward the making of physical theatre in this journey through  The Underground . Inspired by a surrealistic novel in collage by Max Ernst,  Une Semaine De Bonté ou Les Sept Éléments Capitaux  ( A Week of Kindness or The Seven Deadly Elements ), the bizarre, interwoven narratives of Haruki Murakami's novels,  Hard-Boiled Wonderland  and  The End of the World  and  Kafka on the Shore, and Jean Renoir's 1939 cinematic French social satire  La Règle du Jeu  ( The Rules of the Game ), this performance will seek to create worlds within worlds of physical and emotional expression.

Show dates: Jan. 23, 24 & 25 @ 7:30pm

MFA Dance Thesis: An Object, Screaming in the Theodore and Adele Shank Theatre , February 6, 7, and 8 at 7:30pm
A statement on the performance from director Paulina Colmenares:

"An Object, Screaming  is an evening length collaborative and experimental dance performance that originates in a prolonged meditation on the epistemic and spiritual nature of the creative act. The work presents itself as a fragmented and porous field of information that in essence remains attached to ambiguity and contradiction. The object is the thing that gets constructed and approached diligently - but the object is fluid and alive -. The scream is the epiphanic poetic claim. The piece attempts to articulate aesthetic and affective experiences of the ineffable and thus approximate complexity, embodied philosophy and contemplation."
