Colorado Option Bill - Update
As we expected, HB21-1232 Standardized Health Benefit Plan Colorado Option passed out of committee yesterday - April 27. The Colorado Medical Society continues to oppose the bill in its current form based upon our concerns with mandatory participation and physician rate setting. These concerns were brought up again in committee and the bill sponsor publicly promised to continue to work with us as the bill moves onto the Appropriations Committee before reaching the full House and Senate.

CMS is fully engaged and physicians are at the negotiation table with bill sponsors in a number of different strategies to either amend or kill this bill.

We ask members to be ready to respond to our CODE BLUE calls to action as soon as they occur.

In March of this year, we began our partnership with The Nova Collective, a Black and woman-owned DEI consulting company. This partnership has focused on laying the foundation needed to bring to life a culture of inclusion where our members are celebrated for their diversity because we know our differences are what make us beautiful.
