Ephesians 2: 11 - 22
11 So remember that once you were Gentiles by physical descent, who were called “uncircumcised” by Jews who are physically circumcised. 12 At that time you were without Christ. You were aliens rather than citizens of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of God’s promise. In this world you had no hope and no God. 13 But now, thanks to Christ Jesus, you who once were so far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 Christ is our peace. He made both Jews and Gentiles into one group. With his body, he broke down the barrier of hatred that divided us. 15 He canceled the detailed rules of the Law so that he could create one new person out of the two groups, making peace. 16 He reconciled them both as one body to God by the cross, which ended the hostility to God. 17 When he came, he announced the good news of peace to you who were far away from God and to those who were near. 18 We both have access to the Father through Christ by the one Spirit. 19 So now you are no longer strangers and aliens. Rather, you are fellow citizens with God’s people, and you belong to God’s household. 20 As God’s household, you are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. 21 The whole building is joined together in him, and it grows up into a temple that is dedicated to the Lord. 22 Christ is building you into a place where God lives through the Spirit.

Your help is needed on Sunday mornings!
As we make the transition back to in-person worship, we are finding several areas where additional volunteers are needed. Please take a look at the different opportunities using the form below. Volunteering on Sunday mornings is a great way to fellowship, meet new people and a critical piece of the puzzle in allowing us to have a successful and meaningful worship service!

It is with deep sadness that we share that Ms. Louise Chambers joined the Church Triumphant July 13, 2021. Louise, 97 years old, joined Avondale church in 1970 and served for a period of time as the Director of Christian Education.
A small, family service will be held in the Sacred Garden this week. Please join us in keeping Tim, Betty and the remainder of the Chambers family and close friends in your prayers.

Career Talks with ACE
“As a kid growing up many years ago, I had little notion of the careers I might pursue. I grew up on a farm...and had little knowledge of other careers until later in life.” We want to educate students about what people do in their jobs. So, as part of the ACE summer program, we ask people to take ~30 minutes, come by the church, and talk with students about what you do professionally. More

The nursery is open and available for children 2 and under. This includes children of older ages with physical limitations that inhibit proper mask wearing. All of the staff and volunteers working in the nursery have been fully vaccinated. This is just one more way we are trying to care for the most vulnerable among us.

Vacation Bible School - Postponed!
After much conversation and thought, we have made the tough decision to postpone our Summer 2021 VBS program until next year. With VBS planning you are forced to make some decisions very early in the year and as we all know, making decisions and planning ahead during COVID has been no easy task. Although things are on the upswing and people are traveling and socializing more, there are still challenges that were unforeseen. We chose a big and wonderful VBS program early on and we want to make sure that we have the resources, participation and excitement to make it the best it can be! We hope to see you next year!
