Architectural Review Committee (ARC) Changes
|
With the almost double amount of ARC submittals, the ARC and staff recommended to the BHA Boards some modifications in deadline submittal schedules and in draft submittals for new construction and major renovations.
Recognizing the influx of new construction applications, the ARC Committees agreed to increase their review time by an additional week, making the deadlines for Preliminary and Final New Construction Reviews one week earlier than previous deadlines. All materials required for the Preliminary and Final Reviews will be due three weeks prior to a meeting, instead of two weeks prior to a meeting.
Also, the ARC Committees agreed that a Draft submittal should always be required for new construction. A midyear change to the guidelines, though unusual, was requested in this unusual circumstance of growth.

BHA's Nominating Committee — We Need You!
BHA's Nominating Committee is looking for one more individual to help identify those willing to serve on the 2022 BHA Board of Directors. This entails a couple of meetings to discuss candidates, which can be done remotely. BHA’s Nominating Committee is charged with selecting at least one candidate for each Board vacancy and recommending them directly to BHA’s membership for consideration at the Annual Meeting. The Nominating Committee informs the Board of candidates’ names at its September Board meeting. If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee, email Tiffany Williams by July 23, 2021, HERE to participate.
The Process of Joining the BHA Board of Directors
Anyone who is interested in getting involved with BHA at its Board level can submit their resume to the Nominating Committee by July 31, 2021, for consideration for the 2022 Board of Directors. All resumes should be emailed to Nominating Committee Chair Tiffany Williams at Tiffany@TiffanysRentals.com.
If someone wants to be considered by the membership for Board service and is not identified through the Nominating Committee process, BHA’s bylaws identify an alternate path: “A petition signed by a minimum of fifteen (15) individual property owners, advocating a nominee for election to the Board of Directors, may be submitted to the Association office no later than sixty (60) days prior to the annual meeting and this candidate or candidates shall be added to the final ballot which will be mailed to the membership no less than thirty (30) days in advance of the annual meeting.” The 60-day deadline for petitions this year is November 30, 2021. All who are interested in submitting a petition can email BHA Executive Director Carrie Moffett at Carrie@BaldHeadAssociation.com.

The Wildlife Overlook Continues to Progress
It is crucial to remember that this is an active
construction site — DO NOT ENTER
|
|
Construction progress continues on the Wildlife Overlook on Stede Bonnet Wynd. While it appears from the road that the project is nearly complete, there are still a number of important items that need to be installed — including signage, retaining walls, steel panels, vegetation and parking — before the Overlook can be opened to members, their guests and the public.
The project’s schedule has been frustratingly delayed this year by barge scheduling, materials shortages and the complexities of construction on BHI. BHA hopes to have the entire project wrapped up in time for the Labor Day weekend, barring any unforeseen challenges. (But, no promises!) Visit BHA’s website HERE for more status updates and photos.
